But the 924 s had the 2.5 engine and weighed less than the 944 and was quicker in standard form, however the 924 can accept the 944 drivetrain easily so very upgradeable. the 944 engine was 1/2 a 928 engine so theat wipes the better engine theory, 944's are pretty expensive to repair as clutch changes take over 12 hours. The weight distribution sets them up better for auto-x than track cars. The 924 was designed as a safty car and the first rung on the Porsche ladder, the 928 was actually designed to take over and replace the 911 and so had a compleatly different idea behind it, the 924 was the fiesta popular plus, but the 928 was the RS cosworth to the Capri. The engine was also used in a LT van however you could say the cossie engine was used in the 2.0 gls, both being pinto's but nothing alike. All that said the 924 is a fun car, not a track car and certainly not worth persuing for great power gains. The only good thing about the car is that ford rims fit. The 944 is expensive to get anywhere near that 260 bhp and is a heavy beast. At this level your paying 400 for the badge and 200 for the car. If your really want to see what a miserable bunch of c*nts own these cars go to rennlist.com. That alone would make me walk away from owning any kind of Porsche, thats why I own 2, both with V8's in them, and no, there not 928's.
