ahmmmm,
sorry to jump in,
my 5 penny worth

turn engine by hand to check no contact between piston vavles>

remove spark plus and crank engine till oil light goes out, this helps get oil flowing in top end and turbos ....
replace plugs & start engine

use an average mineral oil to run an engine in, Synthetic prohibits the bedding process i think this is what is ment by shitty oil... but it must be new stuff

crank shafts don't need bedding in, but the bearings on the crank and rods do need bedding in! avoid high revs and stress loading (driving in wrong gear)
if camshaft has been renewed it must not be left to idle on start up, but and heres the strange bit, if a new bottom end then avoid increased revs at start up.............myself iv'e always struggled on this little bit. so i do a 1800 to 2200 revs for 5mins then let idle at 1200 to 1500 if possible.

cheers.........Ken
