nothing wrong with carbs for extracting power, there's no reason why carbs won't give the same wide-open-throttle performance as injection if sized and calibrated properly. The injection wins every time in terms of driveability at part-throttle, where the flexibility of mapping available with injection offers much better calibration than carbs can.
If you are buying decent size carbs new, there won't be much gain in price either
