Default OEM escort cosworth offset change.

Hi guys,

Ive got genuine cosworth alloys on my mk6 fiesta, rubbing has always been a bit of an issue but isnt as bad as some due to being on avo coilovers with them set to almost their hardset setting.

Now id like to lower it further with it rubbing any more & arch rollering/flaring isnt an option.

I can easily have to offset changed on the wheels by having a few mm shaved of the inner face to increase the offset but is it safe to do so?

I know some aftermarket wheels simply have their faces machined to suit different brands but what about oem wheels?

I dont want to ruin what are nearly new wheels?

Or should i just leave it all alone?

Thanks.

as long as it does not weaken the wheel its a good idea as the offset is just so wrong for fwd fords

I personally would not risk it, there isn't a great deal of meat between the end of the hole taper and the face of the wheel. Escos wheels are around et20 aren't they? And you would be looking at around ET42+ to get them to fit right so it's nearly an inch you would need to take off, there won't be anywhere near enough that metal there.

escos are et25 so a good 10-15mm needs milling, I had them on my FRST and hated the way tyres needed to be stretched to fit even though they looked good I got fes up with crap handling

As steve says, theyre et25.

As for getting 15-25mm off theres no chance! 5mm would be your lot but again theres the safety issue.

I dont mind a bit of stret h but some people go to far.

the best mondeo type to get are the 7J version which are getting rare to find as they have a slight dish as the 6.5J ones just look like larger GTI wheels
