Default Head welding then line boring any recomdations ???

Hi guys looking for a cam journal welding up due to scoring and then I assume it will require the line boring process to square it round im based in Durham but have no idea where to take it for a proper job any recommendations guys I don't mind travelling as long as its a good job or sending the head etc...

If it is an aluminium head where the cam runs directly in it then it needs to be built up using white metal and then bored/honed. The last one I had done was by Service Exchange Parts in Kegworth, Derbyshire. Don't expect a quick turnaround though as they are always busy.

It doesn't have to be white metal, it can just be alloy welded. we are able to line bore at work, we do it for several other engine reconditioners in our area too as most don't have the equiptment to do it! my works website is www.cambridge-rebores.co.uk if you're interested. best to call though if you're after a price or turnaround time.

White metal repairs involve far less heat so there's less chance of distorting other parts of the head.
