Cosworth jumped cam belt
Hi, has anyone experienced a cam belt jumping a couple of teeth when their fan belt snapped.
I suspect that the fanbelt went between my cambelt and distributor pulley as when I checked the timing marks the dis pulley was not on the correct mark, however the car still run!
I have also set the distributor up using the little mark and rotor arm.
I am paranoid that the car had been setup deliberately with the distributor pulley one or two teeth out and that the cam belt had not even slipped, would there be any reason for this?
Cheers Pete

i had mine go on a 35k car back in the day ,pulling out of a junction at 5 mph the car just juddered to a stop.the fan belt somehow got behind the belt and it stripped it then broke it .
every fookin valve was bent in it ,
everything was 100% standard from the factory at the time

the position of the cam belt pulley that drives the dizzy & oil pump doesnt mater as the dizzy could have been taken out & put back in a different position. take the cap off & have a look if the rotor arm aligns with the notch on the dizzy housing.
