Ford Courier van 1.8 diesel odd noise.
Hello all, just got home in the dark and rain and experienced some weird banging from the nearside rear every time I went over the slightest bump. My initial thought was that perhaps a rubber from the exhaust had snapped or come off causing the middle to tap the underside.
However, it gets more interesting. After driving on a 4 mile straight, the noise abated until I did some sustained braking whereupon it returned with a vengeance after I had released the pedal and accelerated on again.
When I got home I rocked the rear side to side pretty hard. Nothing.
I climbed onto the rear bumper and bounced it hard. Nothing.
Thoughts? Maybe a sticky load sensing valve??
Axxe
Edit; In the cold light of day the problem was obvious. The near side bush on the rear beam assembly had vanished. Completely!
