Ford KA 1998 - PowerSteering
Hello guys,
Just had the power steering rack replaced on the family Ford KA, know it was getting near the territory of not being worth repaired but is going to a younger family member soon as his first car.
However, the steering now feels quite a bit heavier than it used to, although I guess that could be because of the new part? But now there is knock-knock (2 knocks close together) sound every 5 seconds or so which is particularly noticeable on start up, I drove it for half an hour today and was still there after driving. However then took it out this afternoon for 15 minutes and disappeared after getting warmed up.
Not knowing too much, was thinking this could be the powersteering pump, or maybe just wearing in of the new part.
Could post a video later of the sound if it's needed, just thought i'd get your guys opinions.
Thanks

Yes, am quite OCD about fluid levels and always keep them topped up.
It's not a whine sound like when there is no fluid, as I know exactly what the sounds like (from the rack failing!).
Cheers
