Default springs or strut tops knocking/noisey street ka

my birds car is fast becoming the bain of my life.

its not long gone threw an mot with new wishbones both sides new discs and pads/shoes all round new clutch kit new brake pipes etc

now before it was mot's it had a slight knock from what i can only describe as strut top mount area (thats where it sounds like its coming from) on the n/s

now since the mot it seems to be getting far worse, i actualy think the drivers side is starting to knock to. we put it on the ramp tonight and the old boy who was kind enough to lend me his ramp/time recons its the spring (lost its tension) but i am convinced its the strut top mount.

when the car is sat on the deck the strut top mounts seem to sit a bit higher than the body part of the car. now the noisey side doesnt sit as high as the not so noisey side. could the bairing have gone on it and its rattling/knocking about and thats why when in the air the strut top mount sits closer to the body of the car more on the n/s than the o/s.

sorry for the essay but want to give as much info as possible as i dont want to go buying parts i dont need.

many thanks

The gap between the stut tower and the stut top is totally normal. But they should be the same size gap - I can get my little finger in them both and they are the same.

I did our lasses up in summer - service, full front and rear shocks, springs, brakes, bushes, new arms, re-con steering rack, dunlop tyres - went mad on it and now it is making the odd noise from front N/S. But everything looks and feels as it should.

Wondering if its the C.V joint going?

I guess I'll have to have that out and check it over - it's nice weather at least

Defo not a cv this is rattling about so much it's braking headlight bulbs and every thing in the little glove box is rattling its tits of. Do you think that the one with a smaller gap the bearing could be fucked hence why it sits lower? Al try and get some pictures up of it.

Thanks for your reply

I think I no what it is. There is a bar that go's across the bulk head looks like a stabiliser bar? I can shake it and it make the same noise but obviously I can't do it as hard or sharp as the car

I have a pic I will upload later. Any one know what this bar is called and what it does?

Thanks

That transfers the brake pedal force to the master cylinder/servo. I'm not sure there are any servicable parts on it and it's a massive job to remove.

Check your ARB bushes, I know it sounds silly but it's common cure for knocking on a Ka.

Brake balance bar - It should not be able to rattle im pretty sure!

Are drop links OK? they can cause a lot of noise or the rubbers on the underside of the turret maybe?

what do you mean by the rubbers on underside of turret?, drop links dont look great but they went threw an mot just a month or so ago granted it was making the noise then but is worse now.

the brake balance bar does rattle a bit by hand but im almost 100% sure its this and i think with the vibrations from the car it rattles a lot more than i can make it,

thanks for your reply
