Who is the willing volunteer / test dummy I wonder....

Needs to be someone with the ability to break a Cosworth part at a thousand paces.....

The ability in fact to break two cars on one day maybe.....

Perhaps even the sheer skill and talent to wreck 2 4x4 boxes in 2 weeks.....

Or perhaps just someone stupid enough to try running 440bhp through standard 4wd transmission, while ragging the tits off it on track.....

The kind of numpty who finishes a Ł3k engine build the day before he sets off to the Nurburgring for some running in.....

Surely noone is that stupid / destructive?

Must be the ultimate test in that case....sounds like if it can be broken it will be broken.

Or maybe just maybe it will be up to the job, not cost Ł2k plus, and everyone will buy millions of them, making Marco a rich man...

I hope so

Si

But the problems have already been sorted years ago!!!!

Quaife, Doughty, DOME, R+D and recently now Fixit all make these gearkits. So what makes this different Marco?

Its got to be one of three things to be be anything new.

1. Cheap
2. Much faster changing
3. Indestructable

Is it any of these?

Hope so

Indestructable ?? Now that would be impressive

I'll have 2 thanks.

Pisstaking aside though it does sounds like it could be a good option for people not wanting to spend loads of money on the running gear as long as it gives the results.

1 cheap= ,yes it's cheaper
2,Much faster changing = wont know yet
3,Indestructable = not sure yet i want to find out at what bhp it goes pop @ so i can say it's rated at so much XXX bhp

i think a 440bhp/390ftlbs sould be a good test and if it can withstand that power i might put it in yours as see free off charge of course

hi mark

it's a heavy duty step off chain for the 4wd system that turns the front prop

the chain will be either lengthen or shorten depending on what step off ratio being used

Hi dan

to be honest it will be tested on track first

at the end of the day it's big tooth box , first gear and reverse gear will remain standard as in standard pattern only

first and reverse are made in better matrial and alot stronger than the standard gears

i would rather the box do the talking not myself , what else can i say about it....... only give it a chance to see what it's like atleast i having it tested what more can i do

Hi Marco,

Thanks very very muchly - I hope I can prove the efforts you have made.

No launches to start with, and no full boost until everyone's happy. No point dumping full power off the 1st traffic light Grand Prix only to come back on here and say it's crap.

I'll test it so we can find where the breaking point is! But would like to see it do some miles before that happens!

I've got a track day this weekend at Castle Combe - will that be the sort of running in you're after

I'll get the box in for Thurs eve road testing and report back my findings as and when they happen

Marco, hope you hard work and time pays off.

would be a good achievment if all goes well.... and dependant on price then i could be adding myself to your list!

I think Si and his car are a good starting point for the testing, a healthy power figure to test its capabilitys and strengths.

its also good to know your looking at opening the options up with the different ratio's which will certainly suit myself as im currently on 3.9 step offs and 3.9 rear diff - both of which have broken at some point on the 400ish bhp i was running, let alone the hopefull 500 i should be seeing when its completed again by spring!

Hi kelv

thanks mate i hope it works out toooooo

as for the price it will be as cheap as i can possible do it , i'm not in to make a killing or rip peeps off i just want a product to do what it says on the can if it works then sound, all i would have to do is put a rating on the box rated @ such and such bhp

If the box is good and can withstand 440 bhp /390 ftlbs test

i will be looking for another test tube baby with a 500+ 4wd car escort/seirra

or even a rally car with loads of low down torque

cheers Marco

Hi kelv

thanks mate i hope it works out toooooo

as for the price it will be as cheap as i can possible do it , i'm not in to make a killing or rip peeps off i just want a product to do what it says on the can if it works then sound, all i would have to do is put a rating on the box rated @ such and such bhp

If the box is good and can withstand 440 bhp /390 ftlbs test

i will be looking for another test tube baby with a 500+ 4wd car escort/seirra

cheers Marco
i certainly dont mind offering mine as donner car when the time comes
would be happy to have the car where ever you need it for whtever you need it for on a testing side of things!!
thats if you'd feel comfortable with myself offering my hands/car etc.

i will be doing the odd track days here and there, similar to Si i guess.

Car wont be back on the road until feb/march next year depending on your time scales - and due to everything coming together perfectly with Mark Shead etc

Hi kel

all i would have to do to the box is change the spep off gear to a 3.9 for your car as the one Si will have tonight has a normal 3.6

see how it goes in Si first it might just pop don't know yet

if you have one box ready does that mean you have several gear sets available. if so might as well sell em now at discount just in case first test box doesn't hold up

Cossie's ready and waiting Mr Polo sir!

Gearbox is out... and Doug is on his way to you as we speak to collect the box (was on the M5 about 30 mins ago).

Shouldn't you be out meeting him somewhere?!!! Or was he heading direct to you?

"It might just pop".... we'll see!

I'm keen to give it a thorough testing - so if you need some abuse / launching / 1/4s etc done I'm there....

Can you drop me a PM with the bedding in process you want me to follow? Want to do things exactly by the book so to speak, to give it a fair chance.

i haven't got any at the min but i can always get some more made up

and this time i will have the center bits i think you had the set without the centers sorry about that i'll trow you in an extra pair of centers

have you fitted them on the car ? if you have how did you find them they are not as bad as peeps think i think they work very well on my motor the beam feels like part of the car
