Default Escort mk4 bonus/rs turbo build

Hello, this is my first project and firsts ever thread. I've always been in to RS since I was a little kid and my dad owns a few RS's himself a mk2 focus RS and a 909 Motorsport sapphire cosworth , so when I turned 17 I thought it was time to buy myself a ford, sadly it wasn't a genuine escort RS turbo and no decent platforms were around at the time so I picked up a mk4 1.3 bonus 3dr in black with full 90spec kit and interior, wiring look etc for £300 no rust perfect start.

So after a few weeks I started stripping it down and getting into it, I know I had my work cut out for me

So after stripping most things out of the engine bay which was painted green for some reason I managed to spray it my self after 3 days of elbow grease and hardwork, but the outcome I was pretty proud of, I then got a time attack sun strip from my girlfriend, as I'm really into it and she thought it would be a good present I wasnt really keen on it at first but once I stuck it on it kinda grew one me so that was the beginning of that!

Question

A few more weeks later I finally picked up a fully forged engine EFI engine with a pace intercooler and an lsd gearbox from Leeds the guy I brought from said it was but I'm not holding him to it! I also purchased an ofab loom and ecu with a super chip and wired that all together, it all started fine but after 20minutes of leaving it to idle I came back out to the car to see that it was over heating and that the head gasket was complelty shot, smoke coming out of the exhaust like a steam train but what do you expect from buying an engine with no reciptes or anything my fault but it happens hey lesson learnt

So I finally done the head gasket and used arp head studs and a cometic head gasket I found that the bottom end had accrilite Pistons but still haven't managed to check the rods as of yet while I had the engine out a brought some vibra technic gearbox mounts.

A year went by and I didn't touch the car. Finally I plucked up some courage and spent a bit of money on it! I brought an escort cosworth hybrid turbo, cosworth down pipe and exhaust into a magnex back box, a fibre glass bonnet and a brand new ally rad along with some RMD silicone hoses in blue, which finished the car of nicely! So once everything was plumbed in running perfect finally got it down the road and bang there's goes the LSD Blown out the bottom of the box.

Well it happens I brought another gearbox which only done 43k, which is in fully working order so I had the joys of fitting that! Bearing in mind this car still hasn't seen anymore then 1mile of road!

After another 6monthd work halted yet again, my old man had an intercooler and pipe work hanging around so I thought I'd give it ago at fitting

So there was the final results had to cut away the front of the car I just need bigger pipe work to fit around and into the wheel archs so I had to take it all back off and fit the old pace intercooler,

So that's how it sat again for another couple months! Sorting out other things and working!

So far this car has been an ongoing 2 and half years project I'm now 20 and slowly losing my love for the car! But all that regained once I done some finishing touches which is either a marmite look, you either love it or hate it!

So that's how it sits right now, 2 weeks ago I brought some compomotive mo5 which I thought would suit the car nicely, I think they are my best purchase yet!

Hopefully in the next couple of months a roll cage and some coilovers will be the next purchase ready for ford fest! Will update once I have fitted the comps on the car and done some other bits and pieces!

If you are fitting the OFAM ecu then you don't need the cossie management, the ofam will have more features as standard.

Not bad at all, Good work for a young lad. Just need to pull that Escort RS turbo tailgate decal off, lets the car down abit. An Escort Bonus turbo decal would suit so much more.

I was thinking about just putting escort bonus 1.3 back on just for the originality of the car, the sticker was already on when I purchased the shell!

Yes that'll be better than the RS one, but Bonus turbo would be different and DMB graphics would make one up for you.

What colour bumper insert are you going to get as thats missing also there a rear tailagate(screen) seal on ebay, the one you got fitted is the Ghia one.

Think il be leaving the inserts out of I'm honest, but never noticed the screen seal as it's actually a genuine 90spec s2 tailgate just been sprayed black, still many things to do, as I've been thinking about cutting that little grill out of the bumper as I like that look but to worried about how much gap it's actually going to leave!
