Default focus road/hillclimb

suggestions please
i have a focus, was a zetec 1.6 originally, i bought it with a ST170 motor fitted, on Suzuki GSXR1000 throttlebodies and Hyabusa injectors, i would like to change motor to a 2.0ltr Duratec, cost permitting, any suggestions, would it be easy enough?

Everything is easy, depending on your skill. Personally I would stick with the ST170 engine, iron block and much stronger than the newer duratec.

Duratec is far superior than a glorified Zetec.

What year is the Focus?

I disagree, the duratec is a good engine and can make good power with the right mods, but an st170 engine is virtually bullet proof, forged rods and a big valve head etc as standard. You can chuck about 400 bhp through a standard bottom end and head gasket. Think the biggest weak spot is the oil pumps which just don't take lots of revs.

I guess it depends on whether we're talking turbo or N/A, as a Duratec will put bigger numbers down N/A.

It'll be custom parts getting it mounted then I think, not sure what box they'll bolt up to either as they aren't your usual Ford bolt pattern.

There is only mk1 focus I know of in Europe that has a duratec in and that's only part way through the conversion, and that's the AJ Racing time attack ST170, we are using a mondeo 2.0 mtx-75 gearbox, to mount the engine you either need the north American focus duratec engine mounts or custom jobs, not sure on drive shafts, and we have a custom bearing carrier on the rear of the engine for the driveshafts.

You just need the mounts and gearbox from an American focus they fitted the duratec to the mk1 over there
