mk6 escort zetec turbo project
thought i'd put up a few pics up of my current project. i started building a 2 litre zt engine to go in my mk3 escort but ended up getting rid of the car before i got round to fitting it. i kept the engine and decided to look for a cheap mk6 to put it in. i managed to get hold of a 78k mile 1.8 si in amparo blue for £325 with a years mot and 6 months tax. i bought it blind and it was pitch black and pissing down with rain when i went to collect it so the first time i had a good chance to look over it was the following day. overall i was happy with the car, it had a cracked rear bumper and a few other small issues but nothing major.
heres some pics from the ebay ad
so i got to work on the styling side of things, i found someone breaking an amparo blue mk6 and bought a rear bumper with spats, front bumper with laguna splitter, sidekirts, bonnet fitted with aerocatches, spax coilovers and a few other bits and bobs. i've fitted most of these bits and removed the rub strips from the car for a smoother look but didn't didn't get any pics unfortunately
then i started pulling the 1.8 lump out to make way for the new engine, heres some progress pics
on to the engine, the spec isn't anything special tbh
2 litre silvertop block,
rebored to fit 86mm c20let pistons
standard rods machined to accept the 21mm gudgeon pins
arp rod bolts
fully lightened and balanced
cvh flywheel, standard 220mm rs turbo clutch cover, helix paddle clutch
heres some pics of the engine going together
re faced cvh flywheel fitted with arp bolts
new release bearing fitted
bottom end bolted to the gearbox, hopefully i'll get a few miles out of it before it shits itself. long term i plan to upgrade to an mtx75
didn't have an engine crane so rsmark86 off here came round help me jack it into position, here it is all bolted up
then bolted on my fully rebuilt head fitted with uprated piper valve springs
focus rs head gasket
head was pressure tested, skimmed, had new valve guides fitted, valve seats re cut, new stem seals and uprated valve springs
since these pics were taken i've bolted on a blacktop inlet and a 4x4 cossie turbo on a cvh manifold but haven't got round to getting any pics of those on the car. thats about where i'm up to as it stands,
thanks for looking

cheers mate, i'm limited by the standard rods to about 270.
head was still at the machine shop and i had a day off work so wanted to crack on with something. also it was easier to balance the block and gearbox on a jack without the head fitted
thanks mate
