Escort Cosworth Monte 087 resto
Been on with this for quite some time now so I thought it was about time I started a thread on here, have owned this car for about 6 years now due to one thing and another it was parked up for a few years doing nothing.
Started to get the ball rolling with it late 2011, I stripped the car to a near enough a bare shell and firstly sent it to Karl (special K) to sort out a couple of small welding and the underside resto & engine bay paintwork
Start of with the couple of bits of welding it needed, it wasnt bad to start with seen alot newer cars in alot worse shape than this.
Seat mounting points first,

Moving onto the jacking points on the floorpan, these were quite fucked after years of jacking the car up on them, at first he did think about cutting them off and fabricating some new ones but Karl suggested that we cut flaps open on the inside of the car to access them from above and hammer them back out into shape, the flaps on the inside are then welded back up,

Onto the enginebay, again no real issues here even the battery tray only had minimal surface rust no rot anywhere, not requiring any welding
Old strutbrace holes welded up,

Moving onto the rest of the bodywork. When Karl had finished with the car we took it up to Gaz in Durham, having seen plenty of his work it was him who I entrusted with the re spray, the car had been painted at some point before I owned the car it was a very nice job but it was the wrong shade, the paint on mine always looked a lot darker than other Jewel Violet ones I had seen at shows, so I decided to have a full hit on it.
The car had previously been de-locked and I hated it, so I got my de-locked doors re-locked lol

Powerflex rear beam bushes
4 new genuine Ford trailing arm bushes fitted to the arms & new hub to arm bolts
Standard rear diff that was removed from a 19k mile car years ago, cleaned & painted up with new rear prop bolts
I snapped the breather pipe outlet on the diff casing when I was cleaning it and you cant buy them anymore so machined a new 1 up from alloy
