Default XR3i MK3 restoration

Hello my name is Ivo Silva and iam from Portugal please forgive my english!!Iam restauring a Mark III Escort and iam in need of LHD dashboard because mine is all cracked and wrotten!!If someone could help i would be gratefull it has to be a LHD dash!!Now i leave some pics of "then" and "now":

"Then"

"Now"

Next step is the interior and lower the car!!

The dash

I didnt want to begin in the interior without a new dash but its dificult to find a good one or one of the Escort GL or GHIA!!I hope you enjoy it!!

Cannot help with the dash but a very interesting project.

Is the satin black the final finish?

Also, I'm surprised the car has rotted as much as it has. I would have thought the climate where you are would have slowed it right down compared to the cold and damp UK.

Yes it is!!We called it "matte" or "baço"!!I live near the ocean so its very common cars this age look like mine and mine was one of the good ones!!Even newer cars 2/3 years have rust!!The dash is my cancer its made out of cardboard and staples GL and GHIA have plastic ones but does cars are impossible to find here in Portugal and the ones i´ve found were in pieces and without the dash!!I´ve found a good condition xr but the dash was completely rotten!!Next step is lowering it and the interior but without the dash !!

nice car and looks nice in matt black. Also choice of rimms bit different but looks cool

I have got a dash a "hard" one, but shipping from Holland to Portugal for such a pakket is nearly impossible. And a soft one finding and shipping is not done I think most people wont ship them beceause of chance of destroying it

Well fragile stickers often work!!!!Iam in a point of desperation in Portugal is impossible to find!!Well not impossible there are the plastic ones without the console but i want to maintain the original look of the interior!!The rims came from the UK they are 3SDM wheels the 0.03 model i think 3SDM doesnt make them anymore i didnt want them with the two different types of "holes" but they were the last ones they had!!
