Still in its box i expect ive not really seen it either. The sump has already been sent out to be machined to Marks Spec thats all im aware of. Ive not seen Pistons, Rods or Crank either but ive payed for them so assume they exist . Mark is 40 miles away so I dont visit often it takes too much time out of my retirement schedule, how did i ever get time to work, beats me .

I think the problem is you simply cant cope with as much as you get older. You slow up cant imagine getting up at 6.30 for the daily comute I would be dead in a week . Its clock into the coffee shop at 9am these days for an hour reading the papers then drift slowly into what needs doing.

All the bits for the new engine will be ready to go to Vibration Free next week. Discussed what we are trying to achieve with Mark the Maths say if Torgue is limited to 660ft-lb across the range it will require circa 58psi (4 bar) of boost to make 1000bhp @ 8k we will try to push the GTX42 & the EFR9180 hard enough to see if in practise those figures hold true. The fuel will be E85. The aim is also 800bhp on pump fuel for the road which will require more sensible boost (2.8 bar).
It now looks as if the 1000bhp engine may be used in the car & not just for show bit mind blowing for an old geezer but im as mad as a box of frogs so lets bring it on. The Nitrous will then be for show not go.
One problem is the Autronic internal map sensor only works to 50psi so we are asking if they can fit a 5bar absolute if not Mark can map around the limitation for a Topspeed run. The real solution is the new fancy ECU ive had my ears bombarded with but that means a new loom, sensors etc for maybe a single Topspeed run.
Having been told whats comming from the EFR range in 2015 I may as well chuck this lot in the bin it will change the game again. They will also look at one of Marks suggestions for 2015 guess what it will be perfect for mine the barsteward I wish to quit in 2015 .

Whats the 2015 EFR range going to be like?

I cant say what the changes are as it was top secret, I was lucky enough to visit the back room on the BW stand at Sema with the designer and two other high end dealers and give our views on the new stuff coming and what we wanted,
The manifolds will stay the same.

I've just got enough money together for a manifold and I bought a Tial 44mm wastegate a couple of months ago so was going to buy the bits in stages for an EFR setup.
But I might just wait a year for the 2015 EFR turbo now.

rod as arsey as some of your comments can be towards other peoples cars and what is and what isnt fast (and my replies to you also) i must say i have to thank you and the mad crew for pushing the boundaries and moving the cosworth tuning scene forward. i guess without the work you guys do we would all still be lagging round on t4's with claimed 500 horses

Botters, well said I agree with you totally. You really are pushing the boundaries who would have thought back in the early 90's when 500hp in a Cossie was big power, now in 2013 there are yb's with double that!

No point in waiting for it as we are not sure what version will be ready first and we were asking for the really big ones first.

Had an horrendous 2 weeks with my teeth problems so didnt even think about the car .
Saw Mark today the new I/cam has arrived. Mark said the CP Pistons we have are not suitable so a new set has been ordered from the States. Its a 1off so will take time, its due last week in January. All other parts are now available except the valve springs which are still to be specced so all the bits will be off to VF for balancing next week.
The ECU can be modified to take a 5bar absolute map sensor so that up to 60psi can be used BUT it will take about 3 months or more as it has to go back to Australia . Mark can map around this so we are going to leave the Map Sensor as it is. If we decide to run these silly Boost levels in the car the ECU can be modified after the Dyno session.

teeth and 1000bhp cosworths in the same thread

1st hope the teeth issues get sorted!

and at the spec 50psi sounds interesting and I net a slow gera change should provide some highly amusing wastegate chattering noises.

but where would you find a suitable dumpvalve to handle that sort of psi

can wait to see / hear what it runs at

Will be taking all the bits to the Vibration people to get balanced as a unit after Mark gets back from Sema. Think Mark has other idea as well that will be discussed at the time. We are giving this a good shot lads it wont be easy.

Ive always stopped Mark going for big Power cos I needed to drive this thing to the Darby & Jones club but having two Spec's will i hope give the Tall one a crack at some big numbers. If it fails thats life but if we dont try I think I will always regret it in later years as I consider mods to my my zimmer to make it handle better .

Awesome stuff.

I really can't imagine your current YB record being broken by anyone but yourself, not because it's not possible, but due to to the age of them and the massive amount of money and effort put in, not many people are willing to go to the efforts that you are.

Obv' using other engines it's possible (Hell, there's an Evo that's done 237mph in the standing mile coming up to 4 years bck now), but for YB engine Fords, I reckon you have it in the bag for ever.

Even 13 years ago I remember Rainbum adamant that 'RS500 spec' was the ultimate and nothing else was really possible, then a few years down the line he'd seen what was going on in Scandinavia and had changed his tune to 'anything beyond RS500 spec is like a grenade with the pin pulled out'.
Funnily enough, he doesn't say that anymore lol.

What you dont know is why im still having a crack at these things. In January 2004 I set out a series of objectives for my car.
1. Beat the Sierra RWD record of 191.6mph
2. Beat the overall record of 194.6mph
3. Try to exceed 200mph
4. Hold/Defend that record for 10 years.
Well its 9 years 3 months yesterday so getting there .

Glad you got them sorted

However they should really whiten your teeth first and match the implants to them. That's a much better way of doing things.

Last minute Panic .

Was going to take my parts to Vibration Free today so at least they were delivered before Christmas.
Mark gathered all the parts together but could not find the Clutch just an empty box. He rang & I thought i had it somewhere in the house but searched to no avail.
I then sort of remembered taking it to VF some time back before all the change of Specs etc. I rang but the young lady who was alone manning the phones knew nothing but took my details.
I now asssumed it was lost much like my flywheel on the last re-build (My cleaner threw it out when she found this hunk of old metal in the lounge behind a hi-fi speaker ) & I was taking the usual pensioner jibes from Mark about my memory .
Got on to the supplier to order a new one but for some unknown reason i didnt place an order but said i would wait till after Chrimbo.

This afternoon received a call from VF the young lady had found my last order & it stated I had left my clutch with them. This wonderfull young lady then search there stores & found a Clutch in a sealed bag in the " WTF section " Yep! it was mine.
I could still get it there before Christmas if i take it on Tuesday but I probably wont bother now.
