Default weihrauch HW90 RESTO (Air Rifle)

So I thought id do a thread on a Air Rifle im going to try a tidy up. My last thread seemed to go down ok on a Milbro rifle

https://passionford.com/forum/restor...air-rifle.html

The new rifle is a very good quality rifle made in Germany, this particular example is rough, rusty and butchered. Ill start with a couple of photos and just see where this goes. Id really like to pull this apart if I can get the gas ram recharged after as its not the same as a normal spring rifle. Please bare in mind this particular rifle is possibly 10+ years old(found out its a 1993 model)

This is the gun after about 20mins of getting it home.

And the some dreaded brown stuff

I took the barrel to work today and removed the silencer and found that somebodys cut the barrel (cockeyed) with a hack saw, this is a big No No with any air rifle as you loose power and unless its straight I will not be accurate in any way.

This puzzled me a little the silencer as ive never seen one like it so I asked on a forum and was told theyre a terrible 90s thing so no dowt it will end up in the bin

Great gun

I had one of these with the same silencer, from memory it was called the Ox nutraliser - I took it off in the end!

I also shortened the barrel on my one but did a decent job and had to make a barrel crowning tool to make sure it stayed accurate.

One thing you might need is a theoben dampa mount, the gas springs in these tend to break the cros hairs in the scope

Wish I never sold my one now

Good work. Nice to see you're taking care of it. Not long ago did the same thing to my Air Arms S410k. I've still got a Weihrauch HW97K about somewhere. Great, well built rifles, if a little heavy!

I've done this in the past. We put an Oxbow mainspring in an old BSA Mercury under-leaver and it used to unzero the scope! Eventually it split the crosshairs.

Interesting. Be good to see how you repair the stock. I have a mint hw77 from 1986ish here.

Apparently laying a wet cloth on the stock then putting a hot iron on it can raise small dents in the wood.

Ok so ive mostly been waiting on parts to arrive from ebay, I sanded down the stock(wood bit) and removed as many of the marks as possible, I took it rite back to bare wood as the original color was a bit dark and plain for me,

Unfortunately I didnt get any photos of the bare wood, but we all know what wood looks like

I also got some proper stuff to give the wood a darked look and varnish effect finish
