MK2 Fiesta Zetec Hill/Sprint
Well, been here quite some time now but this is my first thread... Here is my latest purchase which requires a little attention to get it up to standard.
That said it is phenominal starting point very pleased with it as I went from Birmingham to Southampton to collect it then drove it straight from there to Stoke to see my better half without any problems... I then drove back to brum from Stoke yesterday hassle free!

yeah the Ranger is my main vehicle which some lovely person decided it was not obvious as it approached their rear view mirror and ploughed a focus into the back of it on Thursday whilst it was parked up.
Yeah the car is 100% solid... hopefully some of you guys will get to see it at Ford Fair.
Here's some of the other pics:

Thanks guys, webers on order along with emerald so hopefully get rid of the nasty flat spots. Stickers are vacating the vehicle be good to get all the tools dusted of from my 3i build back in 2008.
Never been welded and is absolutely solid, exactly what I was looking for, fair few things to do though but hey that's what spring is for???

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Looks in really nice condition, I saw it for sale as well and didnt think it would be as solid as your pictures show. Does the ford logo tucked behind the bumper hide anything? Keep us updated.

Couple of things to note for this project on the off, whilst checking out what I have remaining from my delightful 3i, I have located my vac advance stand alone ignition which will be much better suited to the Weber setup I'm fitting.
Also had a call from a dear friend informing me he has a S2 LSD box waiting for me when I go see him....
I have also fitted the 3i starter and heatshield and the car seems much much happier from cold.

Well not much to report, clocked up nearly 1200 mile since friday and she hasn't let me down yet. Still gotta sort this fueling problem and road speed/engine speed is a tad annoying. But other than that the Fiesta will be taking a trip to a couple of mates for complete project evaluation and hopefully we can lock down some target figures and develop its future spec in time for ford fair!

After big mis-firing and inconsistent flat spotting it has come to light the carbs were mounted in a very poor fashion. They are now affixed temporarily with fuel safe, wire armoured link tubes which will suffice until the webers arrive.

Well she's been on the ramp for full inspection and is running absolutely mint XR running gear, car is spotless underneath never been welded. Every more enthused by this car, when I get my garage back the fun can really begin.

Ok swept some snow off and gave her a fire up today for the first time since I got it back. Carbs are going so anyone insterested will have the full kit manifold, carbs, links, filter kit (offers). Binning out the escort ECU being used for ignition.
Engine and box coming out and will have a full assesment, then rebuild with recon Escort 1800 B5 box, webers and mappable ignition then I can focus on the interior.

Hi all, progress ish... Fiesta decided to give up on holding its coolant, stat housing is cracked, so a freshly reconned unit with new fixings and stat is ready to go in. Pulled out all Engine harness ECU and bay wiring and will be removing carbs and such tomorrow.
Webers are on the way with the fitting kit, Anyone got a link or even and OMEX 200 or equivalent knocking round for a good price before I give in a purchase new?
Also got my 1.8 SI B5 box and rebuild kit and LSD to strip/assemble and fit back in.
Ford Fair it is!!!

Major geek time, fitted new stat housing and thermostat but of course It had to have some restoration work carried out and here is the result:
Following a week of rough running and non starting I finally took ownership of my ST170 so the fiesta was duly taken of the road for some TLC and alot of investment.
First port of call today was removal of the entire powertrain and all Engine wiring, I have prepped everything and the engine and box now sit on very loose mounts alone, everything else has been removed:
It also appears the engine hasn't been far since some sort of rebuild unless it was a new crate motor when fitted its far to clean. There are also signs of porting not too clear on the pic:
Seems like somewhat of a bargain atm though, engine and box should be out for sorting by the end of the week!

Nah pissed down all evening, sorted some toys and got a lot of interest in the old carbs on the bay though so things look promising.

Weber Alpha wooop!
So here is where we are, Bike carbs are packaged and ready to be shipped to their new owner and I have my lovely new toys:
There were of course some fitting issues to be addressed, I have opted to remove the brake transfer bar, master cylinder and servo and got for a pedal box affair, I have shortened the Vel Stacks and filter assemblys.
They took alot of work as I wanted them perfected concentric, ended up turning a taper cone and pressing jig to taper the smaller parts to match the dia of the larger peice.
Then I turned a matched taper to jig them for tig welding and finally finished them today:

The Gtdi... yeah thats the unit in the new ST.
It'll be a while till I go down that road. Dash board is now out and wiring can commence ready for throwing the unit back in.
