Can I ask, before you cut the bonnet, did you use a drill to make a pilot hole, and then use a jigsaw ?
Plus have you run the car yet, and if so can you feel the heat coming out of the new venting area, cheers

That's good, as I've been looking at having my exhaust manifold coated by Zircotec, but can't work out if I could have the heat shield mounts ground off smooth enough, so this idea may work better for me Cheers Steve

Cheers rog.
The bonnet vent didn't work out too well when I done string tuft test. No matter what I tried it was sucking air in not out. So it's been replaced with a new bonnet.

Interesting Steve, do you think an intake under the front of the car directed upwards towards the manifold would push the air out of the top?

Hi
A couple of months ago I also purchased some gsxr 750 throttle bodies with the intention of fitting them to a standard 2.0 zetec so will be very interested in your experience getting them to work
Cheers

Greetings!
Hello Underdog! Im rather new to this site, but I have been a long time thread stalker on here.
I got an st 170 last year as a track car, and you have greatly inspired me. I find your workmanship and skills highly interesting, educational and very inspiring.
I have read through your build thread a good few times and watched all your video's.
Just wanted to say thank you for posting all your content for poor and amatuer diyers such as myself with less knowledge and skill :P.
Also I am very glad you are still modifying your 170 and I cant wait to see how your throttle body route goes
Keep on underdoggin!!

About time you started doing something with it Steve. I got bored of the fiesta to and I've started on my focus now lol.
Couldn't buy my focus parts back could I? lol.

Steve what spring rate and lenght you using on the rear now? the ones I've got on the focus even at 60mm from stock height are far too high (still looks factory height lol) with no weight in the back.

if they look stock at -60mm then someothing cant be right. im running 10kg rears. what make are you using?
#1060
There just cheap Gmax springs Steve, don't lower to well anyway and now the rears stripped the cars just gone back up in the air lol. You wouldn't happen to remember the dimensions of the springs would you?
#1062
One thing I had left over from the other focus you couldn't have was the powerflex bushes, so they have come in handy now lol.

Power wise I'm near the limit on a standard engine bit map need smoothing out.

If you could think back Steve to how the car went before the modifications, how different do you think it actually feels and goes ?

at the moment it runs like crap. iv got misfires and almost impossible to cold start. it will be sorted soon but its been a bit of a pain of relying on the wrong people to get it done.

Nice result. I wonder what you'll get with a decent map? What sort of total cost are you looking at for this conversion if you don't mind me asking?
#1074

thanks. all in without mapping cost just under 1k. thats ecu, loom, throttle bodies, filter, trumpets, backplate. silicone hoses. fuel rail and fuel return and pump sender unit.

Bloody hell thats not bad. I've got a zero mile ST170 lump doing nothing. I'm half tempted to buy a dead St and bang it in.

the ecu is the big money saver. i was looking into a dta s60 ecu and that was 1200 just for ecu and loom. the me221 is the cheapest ecu i know of that will run vvt.
#1077
Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
The exhaust cam is a bit low on lift, so you could buy a stage 1 exhaust from cat cams with the same duration but 1mm more lift. What is the timing on the VVT?
