500+hp Capri. but with one SMALL difference..
That difference being, MERCEDES BENZ POWERED.
sorry to offend most purists and whatnot out there, Frankly, after some people i have come across, i thought i'd really push the boat out to piss them off even more.
SO, last year for my birthday, Lucifer's birthday (my Capri) and Valentines day all rolled into one; i went out and bought one of the most brutal merc engines, (ahem. the whole, pristine car actually) an S600 v12 limousine from back in '96. My intentions? well i dont do racing. frankly some tit thinking he's solid around town is not worth the time or effort. i aint building a RACE CAR - or i would have gone out and simply BOUGHT a race car. No, this monster will be an 'all rounder'. overall 2 tonnes (originally the merc is 2.2) and should still hit the 0-60 in just shy of 5sec. which is good enough for me without bolting 2 turbos or twin superchargers and getting silly with money (more than i have done with the de-restriction from 155 , electronic component and general ecu changes )
im building what I want in a car. they dont make a car i like enough to keep for good. I just fancied something that will eventually look as off its head as i am and to bring my 25 year old Lucifer into the fast lane rather than the middle with a top speed of just 95. bless. i chose this merc purely because i needed a suspension setup, engine and all other components, all matching, along with the entire floor plan of the car - to withstand sheer weight and be capable of living with my rough driving and whenever some git decides the will drive into me - they will end up much worse off. so hence the 3, 4 and 5mm thick steel bumpers and crossmembers (i guess 'rollcage' and strengtheners) that will be part of his construction. not to mention the extra body plates here and there so far a minimum of 2mm.
yeah, the body isnt finished i forgot to mention that bit.... i still need to cut the capri into at least 3 chunks then stretch and rebuild it again over the merc
(hence absolutely no reason to spend money on a flawless wonderfull paint/body finish. YET.)
i dont intend to go into details where electronics and computers are concerend (on an engine) because i absolutely have no idea, other than a gearbox it is my weak point on cars. dont intend to even begin to talk as if i know what im talking about with them - but that is where i simply, paid someone who does know what to do with them to do it for me. like the paint job will be done. the engine as it stands is only a bit over 400hp. but as i have sat in a box waiting to be connected, certain other things.. but obviously i aint doing anything more until i have 'done the frankenstein' ill only be adding this number and the number this wonderful gas should dump ontop together. the trouble is, is this engine has done over 130k since 1996. now, as its not the engines im used to, i would prefer to spend a massive amount to at least get it rebuilt (which will lead to mods inside, face it! hahaha) very very soon after getting the car 'built'. or it will just worry the hell out of me. its too rare and nice an engine for me to beat the crap out of it daily when its 'that old'. my standard 2ltr didnt last me even 10k after i bought him... probably a total of 135k (i changed the dials so..)
this is the point where i WILL have to resort to buying a star diagnostic setup. because the electronics on a w140 merc are more complex than a woman! that and apparently you can adjust settings with it too (again, i watched him looking at dials and meters and it went over my head very quickly)
Trust me, when this car is finished it will be fucking mental driving it you can knock the exterior of the car all you want but i tell you now, only someone who has driven the original v12 with the self levelling suspension and all the crap, will know how bloody wierd and quick it will be (i.e *an experience*). and yes i will try my best to keep the self levelling suspension on.. if i explained why, you wouldnt understand so...
and
to some people that have kindly reminded me that YES, there are cars in the world with more horsepower than this - *NO SHIT?!?* who cares - its what it is that counts
(and what kind of a spastic you look when driving at top whack holding on for grim death. )

spikes from the wheels are hard to manufacture, and as for an ejector seat.. i dont think i want to HAVE to have a T-Top to compensate too. id rather have a regular one seater car...

i drive my capri all the time. in 8 years he only broke down once.. even then i can fix him by roadside..

no, but after some git scratching it in the middle of the night i am tempted to stick flame throwers on alarm demand to toast the sods... hehehe.
well this year its all about chopping the merc up and tacking on braces to stop the shape from moving - so it stays square. then next summer the capri will come off the road and ill use something cheap n cheerful in the meantime. so ill say 2-3 summers and i should have a skeleton for the finishing. realistically anyway with the way things are... i just aim to have a running car before im old n wrinkly, wanna look good after all that hahahaha

The engine conversion is a good idea, but please put the engine in a standard looking mk3 capri.
All thats needed are (very rare) RS spoilers and you have a very nice looking car.
Also I should imagine it would be less work to just fit the mercedes engine into the capri. Instead
of cutting the body up and putting it on the mercedes chassi.
