the head came with the new engine, it made good power before and its been ported so i aint messing with it.
im not sure which is best, tony@turbosystems tells me the ports were smaller on the small turbo heads, but i also read that there is more material to be taken out if needed. dont think it makes much difference to be honest.
thanks
did it hell useless tossers at burtons
should be here tomorrow, not looking good for the weekend unfortunately, getting a bit inpatient with it now lol, just want to get it back on the road.

well as per the thread in GD the new TPS arrived on thursday, stuck it on and set it up, but then found i had an air leak
i needed to paint that awfull yellow inlet, so yesterday i met matt lewis near shrewsbury and picked up a set of new gaskets.
took off the manifold last night and spent an hour sat in the garden keying up the yellow powdercoat and sanding down the ends of my fingers
so ive given it a lick of paint thismorning, a quick polish and bolted it back together.
what a difference
Got to go look at a car with a mate this afternoon then should hopefully have it bolted back together and running again tonight

i'll pray to the car gods for you then lol.
yes i fixed my car just in time for classic ford. pattern sump and sealant cost me Ł75, refitted standard manifold and cat so that only cost me Ł10 for gaskets and pas high pressure pipe to pump joint cost all of about 2p for an o-ring and bit of ptfe tape
i now HATE the way it drives as its too flat and just seems to run out of puff and its also too quiet now. loved that 4-2-1

i did
well nearly, just got to fit the 4 nuts underneath in the morning and try it again
Got to ring mike at R&B on monday and see when my new HT leads should be here as its starting to look good in there now, need the new leads so i can put the plug lead cover back on. Just need to sort a cambelt cover, someone sell me one quick before i order a carbon fibre one

i bought the 4-2-1 at least 3rd hand if not 4th or 5th and so it had just corroded loads where the 2 goes into the final collector and the pressure when i started it just blew a big hole in both pipes it was a focus central one and supposidely had been ceramic coated at some point but had been painted over the top and i wrapped it. it was just old and past its time!
haha i guess this means the odds are up for you coming to Llandow then
it still shifts for what it is and sees off the chavs but thats bout all its good for without some serious mods. tubo!!!
if you fancy drifting there are some drifting sessions inbetween the track sessions at Llandow too
i've still not sorted out what i'm doing accomodation wise yet as i'm busy with some job applications but i'll get round to it next week and let you know. i think the Llandow track website has some links to b&b's and camping sites if you want to take a look.
is sam availible for Llandow or anyone else you know?
let us know how the cossy is tomorrow mate, 4 nuts i'd have done in te dark under torch light just get her running

Yep
Got it running properly tonight, turned out to be another air leak
I made an adapter in work yesterday to rig up my compressor to the inlet pipework, stuck 30psi up it and sprayed leak spray round all the joints, turned out to be the throttle body to manifold joint leaking pretty badly even though its a brand new gasket.
Took it off, smeared it with loctite flange sealant, let it cure for 24 hours and jobs a good'un
Idle is still a touch high, about 1500 but I will let tony deal with that, but it revs and returns cleanly
Just got to fit a lambda boss in the downpipe as I forgot and ring tony to organise a full map.
Took it round the block earlier, gave it a little squirt in 1st and 2nd, by fuck its quick
Already feels loads stronger than the old T3, fair bit laggier but that's to be expected, it took off about 4k so that's probably about right, didn't have time to watch the boost gauge tbh as I was holding of for my life

see its the simple things that can cause the big headaches
glad its sorted now and i'm sure tony will spot any other issues and get it running 100%
when's tony able to get it in?

well its been a bit slow going this last week or so as ive been waiting for bits and busy with work, but its ready for mapping now
Got my new stack wideband gauge and got a fitting welded in the exhaust, dont ask about the plate....
just waiting for the plate with 3 holes for the heater vent to arrive (burtons again ) so ive just stuck it in where the coin tray sits for now.
finally a pic of the painted inlet
and the nearly completed engine bay complete with HT leads that fit under the cover
need a cambelt cover and turbo heat sheild refitting when mapping is complete
Also ordered an airtec turbo cooler and oil feed line with a filter.
Done a couple of miles in it and its a bit rich all the time, and only making about 1.2 bar boost, but otherwise it feels good, certainly quicker than the old engine, should be mental with 2bar up its arse
needs a good wash too and the damn side repeaters sticking back on again

Looking good though. . .

Will have to try a square one but i think the hole in the wing has been filed out
Dropping it off tomorrow night at turbosystems
Im stuck on shutdown at work for a couple of weeks now on 12+ hour days, so tony can finish any bits he finds as ive run out of time and patience lol.

will have to make a plate i think to sit inside the wing to hold them on properly.
Well the car is ready for tony tomorrow, got my new turbo cooler fitted, and gave it a quick wash tonight.
impressed with the cooler, its the 60mm airtec one from autospecialists.
went for black as i will change the intercooler at some point for a black one and spray my rad at the same time.

Might be a bodge but why not take the arch liner out and put a jubille clip round it, hopefully it wont pull back through then.
Or abit of hose over it then the jubille clip?
Then the sticky pads will just keep it central.

Car dropped off at turbosystems
tony is going to replace the MAP sensor pipe as ive used silicone tubing, and fix the issue with the idle hanging as its still playing up
hopefully should have it sorted for next week
They fell off again
sounds like a good idea
