Red escort going pink... what to do?
Hey everyone,
I've got a mk5 Escort in Radiant Red. Its kinda gone pinkish on the top (bonnet roof etc)
I want to bring it back up if i can but without spending a fortune. I've seen people using autoglyme? but i have no idea what to use or what these products do?
I watched a guy on youtube doing a video on cut & polish with a buffer and that looked amazing after and im sure he said that doing it that way means it was perminat and wouldnt fade back.
heres the link to that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMB8BxsUi6E
I've seen some cheap buffers (probs not that good) and car care stuff about, but i duno anything really.
like i said i dnt want to spend much (lookin for a mk3 3 door) it would just be nice if it was red again cus i do like it.
heres a pic of her...

it needs buffing then sealing with a good wax otherwise it will just fade again buffing takes a lot of experience as it is easy to burn through the paint, for what it will cost you to buy a decent buffer, compound, polish and wax you could pay a pro to do the whole car and still have change

Needs a good machine polish detail, I did one on a Corsa that was pink its oxidisation of the paintwork, probably no topcoat/Laquer on the paintwork. If you lived closer of are heading up North I'd be happy to help you out.

Unless your showing it t-cutt (and of course more time needed) should work fine. As mentioned above a good quality wax should be applied to prevent further fading and oxidisation. I am not a bufty though so other people may have better suggestions. Good luck with it mate.

Thanks mate! still not sure on what to use. its a nice car and i'm just trying to keep it looking decent. I've been looking at random orbital polishers, apparently there good for beginners. I used a load of that turtle wax colour stuff last year and it feels a bit like a crayon on the bonnet now. i guess ill have to try and get that off first.

As has been said above, get a pro to do it. Will work out cheaper than getting all the gear yourself, and at least then you can be sure of the work done.
