Question quick question about repair materials.

im doing a rear end resto on my sapph and i noticed after taking the skirts of that the sills have got rot at the rear. im planning on repairing it in time but im wanting to know what material to use for the repair. Or is it best replacing the hole sill panel. Anyway if i come across any more holes of rot what is the best material and how thick does it need to be for the repair. Many thanks

Hi mate you could repair them without replacing the full sill, just section it but make sure you cut all the rot out and treat the inside properly before you weld the new piece in. as long as there is no other rot i personally would not replace it all. also make sure you seal it and paint it then it should be fine. as for materials you can pick up a sill pane cheap enough and just use what you need from it.

if any future repairs do need sorting if its rot it will need cutting out and replacing as it will always come back. i would use a similar gauge metal ant blend and fill to suit as it will look factory

i would cut out the rust mate, make a plate weld it in and fill it to suit, make sure you treat the underside as it will come back otherwise
