Default MK2 Fiesta Cheapo Resto !!

This is my mk2 fiesta, I swapped it las week for my modified Rover 200.
My intention is to do it up on a very tight budget '''''HELP'''''

I know this isnt the best way to do it but hardly no money at the mo

Its all a bit of a shit tip but the underneath is solid

Only 49,000 from new, it needs a tidy up and im thinking of getting a cheap mushroom air filter 'induction kit' for it. Would this work?

This car apparently was dry stored from 2000 till about 6 months ago but
i dont believe them as this is a recent paint job and there was bubbles of rust on every arch and old filler in alot of places. I know what they have done they hav just put filler straight over minor rust then in the past couple of years the rust has progressed on rotted underneathe the filler.
The lazy gits

Same story here to

typical rust spot on these fiesta's i think, its worse on the inside but i have treated the rust with 'Genolite' its brilliant stuff

Slowly building up the arch with gaffa tape behind the filler over. It is getting very strong and will be cover up anyway as im going to get some wide arches for it off ebay £100 + £15 delivery, not bad
Or any other sugestions let me know. Thanks.

This is the best arch and only needs some rust treatment

Not a bad colour configuration is it. Azura Blue + Diamond White

I need some new wheels, any1 got any who live local let me know

Dull and boring interior. Do Fiesta Si, xr3 or any othe seats like them fit straight in here ??

Looks alright mate

I would save the £100 for the wide arches and buy some rear repair arches and have them welded in would be loads better imo

This is that rear arch, almost done nowand it is solid. Cant wait for my wide arches but i can only get them when ive sold my OZ wheels.

New Golf ball gear knob, every car ive owned i use the golf ball type

I painted rocker cover yesterday in royal blue, alot better than original with a new cork gasket only £2.50 for gasket never seen em so cheap

The car looks good but them wheels really let it down, swnd me a message if u have any for sale that will fit

That damage on the corner of the bnnet was caused by the stupid little front grill that sits between bumber and bonnet because 1 of the clips popped out and whenprevious owner opened bonnet it bent the corner big style. so got rid of the grill now and ill make a mesh grill soon.

What a beauty well it soon will be

Edge 12" 900 watt subwoofer with built in amp, its all wired up with no wires showing. Sounds amazing, very loud and aand the car shakes to pieces when on full BASS

New speakers all wires up with JVC head unit up front. Its a shame about my parcel shelf but aint buying a new 1 or second hand as the cost over £50 even on Ebay

If the base is that load mate it will shake the filler from your archers best bet is save money on wheels and body kit and have new steel archers welded in make the car sound first then add all the bits you like and it will give you time save up for a good kit and big rims but good luck with it all

I think if you give the steel wheels a tidy up they wil look quite smart they look a bit deep dish, get it slammed and sum metal on them arches not filler it wont last mate good luck with it though

nah them wheels av got 2 go and that rear arch i will use resin and fibreglass sheets over the filler to strenghthen it as ive only got an arc welder which is no good to do that thin steel welding. Thanks for the suggestions appriciate it
when u say get it slammed down, u on about dropping suspension? if so what the cheapest way do u think because them SPAX shocks and springs are nearly £500 and the car isnt even worth that yet. thanks buddy

You can still end up with a decent car on a budget m8, as long as you spend the money in the right places. better spend your readies on getting the rot sorted properly, start with a good base the rest will all come in time.. loving the car fella keep the pics coming.

This is my straight through exhast but ti isway to loudand i dont think it would pass an MOT, it does sound amazing though, very much like a TVR.
I have now welded up a new exhaust with a silencer init and it alotquieter but it still sound really good (pics on the way soon)

This is my new tail pipe made from a Rover 416 downpipe. It looks alot better since this pic was taken as i have slash cut the ends now it just needs welding onto new exhaust. more pics of exhaust soon

Amazing transformation or what? these wheels are from an Escort RS200 and just suit my car perfectly, only problem is there is 2 wheels that are 205/50-15 which im putting on the back but i need some spacers and they hit the rear trailing arms at the moment, im going to get 20mm spacers all round in the very near future. the othe 2 wheels ar 195/50-15 which fit much better they are very close the the front suspension components but it would be fine to drive as it is,still gonna stick spacers on the from just to give it a wider stance and to fill up the arches as i have now recieved my new wide arches but they need work to fit them

comments please on the choice of wheels, it was either these wheels or the Mondeo 5 spoke Zetec kind of wheeld but the mondeo wheels cost more so didnt bother.
Thes wheels were only £80 for a set of 5 in very good condition and4 of them have centre caps which is always a good thing. apart from 1 wheel, ill keep this as a spare as it has a load of bubbling on it

is this the XR2 spoiler let me know. thanks

Its coming on great now and the arches have lasted and i think the will do for a long time. What i do need to di is wet and dry the bare metal areas and get some paint on there as they ar obviously have very slight rust on top as a result of the rain so this will have to be the next job starting this weekend.

Can't wait to see the exhaust fitted, you should really make a side exit for it. Shame it won't sound like a TVR anymore though huh?!

no offense intended mate just my opinion, but you are making abit of a bodge up barry boys job of this. the wheels will just hit the filler arch and break it all off. and if they dont it will rust through within the next 2 weeks lol.
i would have bought some of those wide arches that you see on ebay and just cut all the rotten arch out and stuck the arch over the top. that way, it looks good, and wont catch.
u say your skint, but you have put a 900watt sub in the back of a car that yet... isnt road worthy. and remeber you have to run a sub in otherwise it will sound rubbish.

i have a 1.1 fiesta, and it will never sound like a TVR even with a straight pipe.
but im being a little harsh, its a good effort your making i guess, and anyone trying to keep an old fiesta on the road is doing a good deed in my eyes.

although i would get rid of the blue windscreen wipers and locks, they look very.... max power

thanks for ur interest and comments that the 1 about cutting the rotten part of thearches away is really what i need to do because i offered up the new arches and theyare just way to big and the existing arch can be seen so out with the air cutting tools very soon. thanks

I think you're on to something there. Ford could save thousands on build costs if they built bits of their cars that couldn't be seen out of an old cornflakes packet!

fiesta's look best on banded steels, or minilites i think. its a retro car, so dont try to add modern touches it looks weird. for example those little shark fin aerials.
have a look at my resto mate, i think thats a pretty good example of a resto on a budget, i priced it up the other day.
car 900
konis 100
50mm springs 60
minilites + 4 spsports 120
xr2 arch kit 70
gasket set, valve oil seals, + service 50
wire brushes and paints 120
seats + wheel 160
and about 50 quid on other crap i wont make a massive post, but you get my point thats only 730 quid. and the car is mint.

Top Tip for when applying Filler:

Sand down the area & the surrounding area first...Then apply the Filler otherwise putting filler over Paint will make it fall off & you should never leave filler on a panel after if you are gonna leave it places like outside! Cos when leaving filler bare will result in water absorbing into the filler & it will get behind it on the panel & trap rust!

the jobs im doing on the car at the moment are just temporery as i dont have alot of spare money to spend on it and dont have any time to do much now. i dont even have a licence yet but when i do i will get the car throught an mot and use the car for a year as it is the cheapest car on insurance as im only 18 then after a year i will start all over with the car strip completely anddo all the jobs gradually with the best parts and a new engine. I will never sell this car as long as i live
