1991 Ford Scorpio 2,0i CL -> 2,9i 24v Ghia Cosworth
My Ford Scorpio project
I bought this Scorpio couple of months ago, my plan was just to keep it as my every day runner , and not put so much work in it..... but that failed
this is how it did look when i bought it
a little rust , a dodgey clutch and som other minor problems
removed the gearbox and changed the clutch and the bearing inside the flywheel
put on some white indicators and facelift tail lights + one brand new ford reflectors plate
New bushings to the stabilizer bar
painted a RS kit and the mirrors
Fitted the skirts
Painted one of the rear bumber corners and the front spoiler
bought and changed som parts
new gearleaver cover
new windscreen , but it broke a week later, new heated one soon to come
sanded down a set of cosw alloys , painted them and put on some new tires
Picked up one of those and fited cosworth front and rear suspension
Dohc out
Cosworth in
Leather interior(doorcards will be fitted someday)
Sanded down and primed a set of Rocker covers
Fresh paint
more new stuff
new rear quarter , still need the right side.. found one on ebay but the seler would not ship it to norway

REALLY nice work!
I want to do that to my scorpio 24V too. Where did you get the spare parts from? Im from germany, here you can't even buy a gasget for the scorpio, there are no more parts available at ford. Is this better in Norway? Where did you get the gasgets for the valve cover?
What Paint did you use for the underbody? Something special protecting for rust?
Sorry for my bad english
Greeting,
vuli

Just search for vectra 2,5 injectors on ebay UK and you will find them, I havent noticed much yet but im only using stock exhaust at the moment and stock airfilter. Im going to swap exhaust and another airfilter in the spring, I think it will make more difference then

Update of what i have done over the last weeks
Fitted a New radiator with electric fans from the 95-98 Scorpio
Fittet a refurbished thermostat housing and a new thermostat.
Fittet a new Expansion tank with a new fluid level sensor
Also had the airfilter box holder painted
And Motomobil in Germany managed to source me one new towhook cover.
Had that painted and then fitted it.
Pics

right decision throwing out that viscous cooling fan. Can you tell me more about the wireing? I have the electrical fans of a Scorpio Mk2 1995 that i wanted to use but i am not clear about wireing it with the temperature sensor.
I would be glad about a quick wireing plan.
Thank you,
vuli

you need a termo fan switch, wire the fans permaenatly live, and earth them through the switch. put the switch in the top hose. Nice project, you have just reminded me that i need to do something with my cooling fan!

hello chaffe, thanks for your reply.
Which thermo fan switch do i need? i think it should switch at about 95 °C, so i picked out this one:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=380342147942
I planed to put it directly in the hose, i wanted to make a hole in it, put the thermo fan switch through the hole and fix it with a nut inside of the hose.
otherwise i would need a hosing out of metal for the switch like mr. scorpio used. which one would be that?
Thank you very much,
vuli

Looking good mate, good to see something different getting the treatment How you get on with the bug eyed Scorpio in that weather? They rust quicker than you can think about it over here
