Talking Escort Bonus RS Conversion | Update | 18/08/18

hey all hope your all well. i just sat down at my pc after a long day of fitting my new engine. before i carry on i would just like 2 give a MASSIVE thank you to darryl (rsfido_1989) for going out of his way to come down and help fit the engine (well he pretty much did most of it but i tried to help out where i could )

ok so back to mine and darryl's day...

darryl turned up to my house nice and early..got the car out and started taking out the old engine pretty much straight away

i had already taken out stuff like the rad, piping, air intake after we got stuck into it the car pretty much looked like this..

head off ...check the oil lol

the damage from the old engine...

pulled out the crane!

lining it up and stuff

old engine out!

original ford parts...loool

off to get the new engine

new engine in and slowly putting everything back together

novelty horn

random stuff

badly needs a wash!!!

most stuff back in

a sight for sore eyes..

pretty much done!

my car used to have morettes on them...but i didnt like the look of them so out came the angle grinder

radiator in ...ignore the wire holding the bumper lol!

final tinkering and bonnet back on

ready to go!!

whilst youve bin reading this thread i just want you to keep in mind that this is my first car and as much as i would like an rs turbo i cant for now because of insurance, being a student and other factors. the engine was replaced with a 1.3litre engine [same as what it was before] this is my first car and im still learning so be nice!

after all its still a ford at the end of the day

once again i just want to thank darryl for the enormous amount of time and effort he put into helping me out!

thers still a few things that i need to get before i start driving it again because its still not quite right...ned exhaust and new headgasket, spark plugs, oil change but that stuff can wait a day or two..im bloody shattered!

okay well today like advised i went and brought a head gasket set...yesterday the engine was running okayish..just needed a exhaust gasket set

pics...

new head gasket set and spark plugs ... the head bolts were special order so im going to have to pick them up tommorrow

off came the air intake and manifold

looking a bit rusty but nevermind

old spark plugs looking oily

i forgot to take a pic of the shiny new spark plugs but im guessing u know what they look like lol

exhaust gasket on!

i was about to do a head gasket change too but i got too excited so i put everything back together, started the engine and away i went!

my escort is idling perfect now, doesnt cut out like how it was doing yesterday. the pickup compared to the old engine is wayyyyy quicker [i know its a 1.3l but i can tell the difference )

spent most the day driving it around just to see if there were any more engine problems and its atually running fine. i went to my mates work place at comet after they got off..me and 2 of my mates had a little drag race down the car park....i was up against a corsa and a polo...I WON :d :d :d :d

suprisingly lots of my mates colleagues are into cars (well all of them) ...they wer laughing at my bumper because its really tatty..and just thought i was running a crappy car...but i showed them all up!!!!!

im going to treat this engine with LOADS of care not abuse it like i did with the old one.

by the way thanks for the comments and support!!

il have more updates soon!

Top work fella. You can't beat the satisfaction you get from doing the jobs yourself and not having to dig deep and pay someone else. Keep at it.

well im back at uni..monday i pickd up my bumpers from essex from joe (mixja) and after a nice wash this is how my escort is looking!

the old bumperrr looking yuk

rust free!

nice arty shot

front view

ass

front

my bonnet is atually like really rusty from the underside so im going to get a new one of them, and eventually get the new bumpers resprayed because the paint is like peeling off etc..

and before someone points out yes i know the decal on the front bumper says pipercams and i dont have pipercams but they were on the bumper when i got them! lol

Hey all I'm back with some updates havent posted anything for a while but that doesnt mean i havent been busy!!

It all started off with me wanting to respray the side skirts and bumpers because they were in terrible condition...

Borrowed a frends compressor and the end result was pretty sweet

so then i got a bit excited and got a bit carried away..

so i started prepping the bumpers

but ended up doing the entire car

i had passed the point of no return by now!!

i had spoken to loads of people for advice i had my mate help me out for this respray i was on a reaaaaaaaly tight budget..couldnt afford to pay someone like a grand to respray my car for me. this was something i wanted to experience so we sheeted up the garage and started respraying it

i have never done any kind of respray before in my life i learnt by watching videos on youtube and reading forums and of course google!

the finished result..

i was in shock at how good the finish was. the worst my car has ever bin looking was like this..

this is how it looked when i brought it

and this is how it looked december 2008

but summer 2009 this is the finished version
