I'm not doubting that

I just always thought that the CGI carbon blocks were based around the Focus engine block and from the picture you have posted of the engine you have a early Zetec block

In the engine spec you posted it said it had a standard crank not a steel one

hi mate this is an early type zetec silver top engine and it does have a standard crank what i ment by the last post was who needs a carbon block and steel custom built cranks when the standard ones are fine to a certain power level . hopes this helps with what i trying to say cheers mate.

I'd be confident to say that Ian wouldn't put his name to that engine if he thought it was going to last 5 mins, I certainly know I wouldn't considering what the overall build cost must of been.

Fair play, looks like a serious car your building, I hope its some good Cosworth transmission your fitting as your going to need it lol

hi mate i think you should look at all of ians engines as there all still knocking about somewhere! and fetch good moneysecondhand , also i know paul johnson and seen him drive around plenty of tracks and drag strips and he drives like a fuckin nut case everywhere (respect) and also know that this engine was in ians first focus turbo so it must be a good 5 years old and paul has since joined the t61 turbo possie so his spec must be close to mine, maybe more

first of all cheers mate for the comments, and about the collector ,there most probably would be a small difference, what i meant to say i dont think it would matter that much on my engine spec for the outlay of getting one built etc .all of ians big spec engines all get put on the engine dyno for mapping etc and each engine has slowly developed more and more bhp (460bhp by sunny upto 536bhp by dan arrowsmith)and this style of manifold has never been restrictive towards the engine mapping etc and has never changed in design also ,so i personaly think that theres not much init.
cheers mate.

you dont sound stupid dude, yeh i wanna keep it identical to the concept jwrc fiesta n the avatar picture but with a few tweeks like he carbon roof vent, maybe a carbon bonnet with 3 dr vents, carbon roof spoiler, fuel cell in the boot , maybe radiator aswell, anthercite paint inside race seat etc you know all the fittings. i have thought about building a identical spec engine for the boot and make it 4x4 that way but the missus would probably leave and i cant use the washing machine etc(just got slapped)
cheers

Man u need more dedication!

U can shag a car, u can't race u're misses! LOL!

Paul, think about the evo running gear route if its not too late! Strong as fuck! The torque figures and heavy launches will kill a 4x4 cossie running gear on the first launch! I have already been busy with a marker pen on mine!

hey up mate, changing your mind again (good lad). well i emailed r&b motorsport about a os giken sequential skyline gearbox the one keith cowie uses on his super drag skyline and they come back at Ł9200 + vat and would also need a new bell housing made so thats out the window but was told standard single turbo skyline boxes would be the best option as the box can do 500-600bhp easily and there are plenty about aswell, plus the diff is also really strong so may go for that .looking at the skyline gearbox pics there dont look alot of difference in size between the cossie box and the skyline box ,so i can fit the box in because my big tunnel hasnt been done yet so i can do what i want really
good luck any way mate and i will keep you posted

ive just looked on the evo website site finding info about the gearboxes and it doesnt sound that good mate . There are quite alot of people having trouble with fq340 gearboxes and theres also no spares avaiable from mitsubishi . So i guess that would mean a good gearkit from the likes of quaife etc so you might aswell go for a reyland cossie gearkit .are these good ,and has anyone fitted one and gave it a proper ragging let us know cheers guys

Realy cool project and well done for doing something different.

The reyland gearkit was tested in the 3 door with 600bhp and had no problems, MAD YUM also uses this kit with well over 600 bhp. If you look in the forsale section there is one forsale just now cheap

spoke to jim at alloy racing fabrications and he said hes now fully seam welded the bodyshell, hes going to cut the boot floor out so we can mod it for the diff carrier to be built into the roll cage.also modified the bracing down the a pillar so the bracing runs from top to bottom. also said hes going to do all box sections on the crosses this week so i will be going down there next week to take some photos and make sure everything is ok,and also drop the gearbox off.
so more photos will follow!
