some of you might know that i bought the fiesta RS1800 that used to belong to stu and nicole of motorsport developments fame, and that i planned to use it for the staples to naples rally later this year to italy, well the plans are still half intact except it failed its MOT today

02 nearside front position lamp(s) not in good working order (not working)
03 offside front position lamp(s) not in good working order (not working)
04 nearside front suspension arm rubber bush detriorated resulting in excessive movement
05 nearside rear (of front to rear) brake pipe excessivly corroded
06 offside rear (of front to rear) brake pipe excessivly corroded
07 nearside rear (back plate) brake pipe excessivly corroded
08 nearside front brake pipe excessivly corroded,
09 rear exhaust system has a major leak of exhaust gas (missing clamp)
10 offside front (sill/floor) subframe mounting prescribed area is excessibly corroded
11 nearside rear (sill/floor) subframe mounting prescribed is excessivly corroded

i have already got the new bulbs for it, new front wishbones, pinch bolts and a full RS2000 rear disc conversion ready to go on, the cars booked in to get the welding done tuesday, i will update with pics when i get some

Redumbdancy
Seemed like a mint car when Stu and Nicole had it - shame its gone downhill slightly.
I'd be interested to see some pics of the work being done - always did like the rs1800's

i wouldnt of said they were majour things welding to one side
for a car its age i would of said wear and tear really.

ok here are some pics, not sure the plans for the fiesta yet as its half owned by my brother and i have my RS2000 for everyday and cant have 2 cars so it might have to be sold after the rally in september and trackday ive booked in october
Rusty brake lines
Car in the Air
Koni suspension
Front suspension/Brakes
Aeroquip hoses
Up inside the front arch
Arms coming off
Arm off
Another shot of the suspension
its getting welded 2moz at 8am and it currently only has one lower arm on the car cos i snapped a couple of bolts but luckily my dad bought me some home from his place of work last night, however its raining so i cant work on the car and im going work in 2 hours
7am start 2moz then

yeah the old lines do look a bit focked dont they
easy fix though, get down scrappy and get some good ones, saves messing about making them.
wouldnt heart to give that inner arch some underseal or something too.
mind you wouldnt be a bad idea fitting the arch liners back
as for the rubber hoses that are naffed, good reason to fit braided lines

not going a scrappy, gonna spend a day making up whole new brake lines, the rubber hoses are ok i just found it funny that they are made by aeroquip who are known for their mega expensive braided stuff, the arch liners will be going back on once ive finished the arms and the weldings been done as they get in the way i think
still need to fit a couple of light bulbs, sort the blowing exhaust, and do the numberplate bulb but should be fine, then the tax is due end of the month
cant afford to spend all my cash on this tho as my RS2000 is far more important

why waste time making new lines though mate, when for a few quid you can have lines, that are the right shape, size and everything, and then bolt them on, bosh, job done

wonder where my nearest scrappy is tho, plus i like to do work on my cars even if i just end up pissed off 90% off the time but when its done its always more satisfying knowing you did it all youself, ok my dad whos a trained mechanic helps me alot but only when im really stuck which saves the day

i think we will be making them cos every single line is going to be replaced
would take ages in a scrap yard unbolting all the old lines off a fiesta and then coming home and refitting them, so ill just cut the old ones off and make new ones,
