Default My Zetec Turbo Saph Project UPDATE 21/07/07

well fort id start anuff project , after brakin the fiesta and sellin up it was time to move on , got my self a civic and before long it had to go so heres how it started

in jan my dad offered me a new car for free if i went and got it from his mates garage were it was takin up room for the last 2 years , being carless at the time i fort nice something i could run about it get it tax and mot'ed then sell it

got there to find this on the drive all ready for me to take
:

as you can see from the pics its not to bad, no rust not even on the underside and always kept in a garge , so i got it home gave it a quick check over and then it was time for MOT , took it down exspecting the worse from a free car , when i come back to find it had passed not only had it passed the advisry sheet was non exsistant , no rust no fucked bushs ect ect !

So thats how it stayed for a bit till AlanS1 kindly helped me out with some parts on trade of painting his engine bay and inside of this car and rollcage ,

so after fittin some cossie seats front bumper mondeo rims and lowering it this is how it was

agen for a while thats how it stayed till i had time to paint the bumper tuch things up and sort out some little bits ,

it made it to central day lookin like this

bumper was still tacky so didnt put the plate on proply had to put it on the splitter

any heres how she sits atm

now here were things get intresting ,
took her out this morning to go pick up my mum when she spat her dummpy out and snapped the cam belt as well as puttin oil all over the bay !! wasnt to bothered tho got it home striped it down and now shes left out the front with just the bottom end in ( rain stopped play today )

so as soon as i get the pinto bottom end out , i can start puttin in some new bits , engine brakes new springs shocks ect

heres a cople of pics of the engine all built up ready to go in but using a diffrent inlet agen just gotta go get it back from the fabricetrs

its just a cheap build it it all gose well then i will get proper pistions and rods proper gear box and go from there

let me no what ya think , all coments welcome any advise welcome to

ill answere in his absence,

bottom end was freshley rebuilt and free
head is a ported jobby of a old car of his,
de comp plate ( i do happen to know that hes got another plan for when this temp engine in in, but ill let him fill that in)

turbo is a st3 t3 and was from alen s1, already got i,c, down pipe nd zorts,

so just management to go
oh and fuel pump, but tryig to sort he old one from the skyline out for that

made his own manifold, well, adapted a erst one, not sure what inlet hes using now, he did have a set of independent throttle bodies but think hes flogging them

and as its his only car and now isnt moving, id say probly the next week or so loool,

i said the sane thing about the turbo, but then he pionted out that the thermostat has still gotta go on the back of the engine

in an ideal world, the turbo should have been moe further foward when luke made the manifold extension pipe,

so were gunna box out the bulk head, and seeing as weve gotta make a loom any way, i fancy having a go at tring to get all of the loom cumming ostright out behind the engine and bringing the wires up sort of under the enigne if that makes sence,

so there should be hardly any loom on show

and think luke wants to do a full bay flush and smooth the inner wings

so will be getting busy with the welder and smoother,

i reckon i could have made the wagon move quicker than the old engine, loool,

tbh, easyest engine ever to pull out, took just over 2 hours

nice update mate, hopefully get a bit more done on sunday after japfest

yes red with a side exit, thats the one mate, its a good little runner around, which iv'e had for 4 yrs, restored, reliable, probably just jinxed it though.
My old man used to paint at Auto dex for a bit (Nigel Wright) now we do mobile body repairs.

What are you gonna use the sierra for, strip, track, not to clued up on these engines, what sort of power are you going for?

cheers

5's standard at the minute bar a front mount, avo coilovers, but its going in for a carb service/ fuelling set up and to have the boost upped to 16 psi week after, nothing special but will be quick enough as said i use it as more of a stripped out run around.

keep up the good work....
