Default Cossie Replica Advice

hey im sam , first time user, and mad into the fords! i ahve to get off my chest that i wanted a volkswagen, but have decided after much umming and aahing on a MKV escort for my 1st car,and as i am a trainee mechanic every summer, i know a thing or two.. i'm only 17, do the smallest engine 1.3/1.4CVH vill have to do, but I plan to go wild on it.
what do you think. ideas and etcs welcomed.

Cossie kit (maybe autofashion one) i want it to look like a completely original cossie (92-93)

Lime Green paint
Esc Cos Alloys

in effect a cos replica but with carbon hockey sticks and a LUx leather interior. can i get a kit looking that good, as my stepdad's brother is a panelbeater/sprayer. so i'll get him to hook me up.

regards sam

yeah most of the replica kits suck and crack over time. The only way to make a decent replica is to use actual panels but with all that added weight and no serious power whats the point!

For the money that you would spend on making a replica you'd be better off buying either an xr2i like Ant says or a zetec s fiesta or something.

We all started at the bottom

trying to insure an xr2i at 17 is phisically impossible unless you plan on using mummy or daddys insurance and being a named driver

get a 1.3 fezzy and put a xr2i kit on it paint it with nice wheels and jobs a gooden mate

or a 1.1 / 1.3 mk 4 escort an make an rs rep

Even then its still going to be a rip off lol

But i do like your thinking escort or fezzie will be better 1.1 or 1.3 still not cheap but will be cheaper in the long run

well mate im my own person and dont really give a monkey what other people think. ive had several cossies and god knows how many turbos both s1 and s2 also xr2 turbo cabby turbos the list goes on. im now heavily into track days and had a group a escoss track car for a while but i spent a total of about £20 k getting it how i wanted it and to be honest all it did was sit in the garage an used no more than once a month .it was a waste of money if im honest unless you are minted and money is no object .im now building a exact replica of the car using a mk 5 3i shell with a full fibre glass kit and a zetec turbo lump which when finished will be good for around 300 bhp more than enough for what i want but it will still be a rep so if a rep is what you want then do it mate put the work in to it and you will get the respect make it a shed and people will just laugh but either way it will be fun and you will learn from doing it .good luck with whatever you do mate . and as long as its a ford and its RS-ish thats what its all about

Go for it mate

I'm 17 and own an xr2i 16v which is RS1800 spec and I'm insured in my own name so anything is possible if you have the determination to earn the money
