Default Fast Ford mag drift project starts here...

Hey guys, not been on here :dw: for a fair while but thought its about time i let the world see fast ford mags new project drift beast

we bought the car and have a budget of £1000 to build a cheapo drift car. so please, any advice and tips etc will be very welcome.

i spotted it on ebay, and it seemed a right bargain at the £300 we won it for.

so i hopped in, drove about 10 miles to a petrol station to fill up for the 150 mile drive home...

and the fukka wouldnt start again - got a good one here i thought. luckily an auto spares place was just round the corner and the fitted a new battery for me and i was on my way again.

it soon became apparrent that the fans wernt cutting in and it was getting a little hotter than i liked but its got me home so that was all that mattered lol. i have since wired in a switch to turn the fans on when you want.

first things first, heres some pics of the beast, we wanted a saph but were running out of time to get a car for ford fair so the hatch will have to do lol - its a beast

and the best bit of course - the nodding dog!! :worthy:

after we got the car back, i ripped the diff out and got my mate stu to weld the bitch up, and here is the results

diff off,

add a bit of weld lol

and then re-assemble

done

i did have a 200sx for a while, and when that went sideways it would put on opp lock itself, this car however doesnt seem to

any info on how to make the steering angle better, mods to do etc will be very welcome

so, what you all reckon lol??

Why do you need to worry about steering angles, welded diffs, etc...

You've stuck stickers on it, it will be perfect as it is

Seriously, good luck with the project, I heard london cabs had a pretty good turning cycle too

on my way home from work tonight...

made sure it was clear (can see for ages) and gave it some...

the car is offically crap lol

in my sx, when it went sideways you let go of the wheel and it winds on opp lock, the sierra doesnt lol

done a quality 360 tho pmsl

more practice me thinks lol

A larger castor angle on your 200sx than on the sierra would be why it would 'automatically correct' when it broke away.
No sure how you can increase the castor angle on the sierra you've got. I'd presume that cossie front suspension would have a larger castor angle? (clutching at straws)

ALL cars should automatically countersteer, at what speed depends on the castor angle, but if this one dont, the suspension is fucked, esp the castor angle.

Dunno how adjustable it is on sierras, but id get it straight down somewhere who will do the tracking (properly, not just to standard spec)

Hopefully your putting on the "Limited to 180mph, please pass..." sticker on it. That sticker is on one of the trains in work

those twin cam sierras are used a lot over here for budget drifting good enough yokes when you reden them and have a good pilot. but basically there crap compared to a jap car for drifting. a good trick is to put back spings in the front and its way stiffer have to loose loads of weight as well, hatch back boots way a ton any sierra ive driven has never counter steered

The mighty twincam rules as a budget Drifter! Im on to my second one now due to rust and the MOT hammer of death! Get up to TD1000 and i will show you its more than possible to get VERY sideways in Crap Car!

If youre gonna do it proper bodge it style, then cut out front suspension top mounts and weld them back in a different position to suit required geometry - give or take a few degrees here and there!!

The car is an utter dog! Im doubtfull it will ever intentionally go sideways in our hamfisted hands!

Think we need to take the Trampdrift boys up on the offer

Welded diff

That wont last long if your driving it on the road

Get some sponsors for the project ,,stickers all over it for the sponsorship

All you need to ask for is parts to build it and it will cost you nothing .

Im up for it ,,anyone else

Awesome offer WRC spec everything and RWD transmission then

Welded diffs last a long long time on other cars mate, why not a Sierra?

Only ever seen one fail, and that was just shoddy welding

Dont even eat tyres that bad, well, nowhere near as bad as the drifting itself does
