It has had a colour change as when I hpi'd it that car back with colour change.
I'll check the vin for the original paint code later to find out what the original colour was. I believe the colour was changed when it was reshelled years ago with a new shell as the first thing I did was check for the numbers but the floor has never been stamped and there looks to be no sign off any dodgy welding there or floor pan being replaced. The car also has the later style (small turbo) fuel flap but there are no signs of the quarter panel being replaced.
The previous owner told me a bit about the car. Years ago the car used to be a 550bhp car and the owner broke it to recouperate some of his money back. A lad in North yorkshire then bought the shell and rebuilt it using his 2wd saff as a donor. He also painted the engine bay and a few other bits Polaris grey. The bloke who I got it from bought it of the lad who rebuilt it in 2008 and had the bottom end rebuilt a couple of years later. Since 2011 the car has only done 1100 miles and the bottom end has only done 1500 miles and more importantly runs like a dream
Rog the car hasn't been for sale since last October time. Steve had it for sale for about 2 months towards the end of the year but unfortunately (as I found out when selling my series one) rs's seam to just attract dickheads when you put them up for sale. He said I was only the 3rd person to view the car after about 100 phone calls and 500 texts. Mainly people wanted to swap their mums Saxo with a bigbore exhaust and £500 for an escos or twats offering "6k and I'll pick it up today". It was advertised last year for 10k and I offered him a p/ex with my focus rs but he said it was cash only deal he was looking for. After I sold my series one in January I came across his phone number in my phone and out of courisity gave him a text to see if it sold. He said no it hadn't and he got pissed off with all the knob heads so put it into storage. I asked if it was still for sale which he replied it not advertised any more and my mate said he would break it for me. He then said if I wanted I could come have a look and he'd take 9k for it as he would rather see it being used than broke so I sold my focus and went to have a look at Monday.
Admittingly it's not the cleanest car but the running gear is good and after a bit of haggling I drove home in it Monday night for a lot less than 9k
