125cc sport bikes, which is best? EDIT: GOT ONE!! pics pg2
This forum seems to be the best place to get answers for most things so i may as well try this one lol
Im 25 and i have decided to do my CBT and probably full bike test and try the bike thing!
I want to start on a 125 as the only experience of bike i have is C90's in fields etc
Im looking at 90's bikes eg TZR 125R 4DL, NSR 125, RG125 etc
Anybody got any previous experience or view on the pros and cons of different bikes and which i should go for?

I had a tzr 125r 4dl a couple of years back and loved it!
Very reliable never broke down on me, so long as you keep topping up with 2-stroke they're fine.
One issue you will have is sourcing parts since they are a belgarda import, but i remember i managed to find a microfische online which helped a lot.
They use a powervalve system as well so check that they work.
The one thing i like about the bike was the brembo 4 pots awesome!

my first bike was a honda cbr 125, its just sat here in my garage over the past 2 years and only covered 500 miles from new lol, as i went for my test soon after and bought a gsxr 600
but the little cbr does handle well, doesnt go like big bikes but handles extremly well considering the tyre sizes on 125s

TZR's are fucking quick, rs125's are nice but unrealiable, CBR 125 are nice bikes, although newer ones are slow as fuck compared to other bikes in that range, personally mate i wouldn't get a 125, you get one, its good for a few weeks then you get used to the power and you want some thing bigger and better, also they can be unreliable, and worst of all, there usually owned by some 17 year old twat that rides like a tit and has ragged the balls of it.

JonnyC48 - Thats idealy the bike i want i think it looks alot better than all the other 125's and yours looks good! is the YPVS a problem area then?
Alot of people have said to me i will get very bored of a 125 very quickly due to the way i am with cars but i want to ride on a CBT for a while before i do the full test so a 125 is all i can i think.
I really like the look of this

st170 breaking
having owned millions of them i would suggest depending on your size a uk tzr125 is a cheap type, not teh racer style most mention but ist cheap as fuck to fix get bits for and taking them from 12bhp/85mph std to c.25 and 110mph is relitively simple
ive had import tzr's and found them constantly troublesome, 1 has only 2k and was alot of hassle, i still have an aprillia 125 in my shed, its teh fastest they did before around 2003 (when i stopped caring) and its horrible to ride
in teh big picture i woudl say do you cbt, then do you test on a 600 (summet shit the test place give you) then get anything you fancy
i passed on a shitty 600 bought a fireblade and thats what i ride now, no need to upgrade later except to newer and it goes as fast and you mit makes it, infinatly reliable, doesnt annoy neighbours like a 2 stroke etc etc

i had a tzr125 4dl and was an awsome bike.also had a 1989 ns125f,pretty quick,and its a honda so nice and reliable...
Then a couple of years ago went and bought a brand new aprilia rs125 full power.
£3500 was a bit steep but did 110mph and handled like a dream.plus it didnt look like a 125.i had no problems with it and did 5500 miles on it,didnt run it in and thrashed it everywhere.
problem with the cbr125's or even most of the 4 strokes is that they dont have much power, where as the strokers do.id say get either nsr,tzr or aprilia.cagivas are un reliable.

It's only really an issue when electrical things start to go wrong because it is controlled by the cdi and other sensors, but i think the dt125's sufferred this more.
I loved my TZR purely because it didn't look like a 125 more of a bigger bike. Might not be as nimble as the rest but deffo quicker.
There are the later model tzr's as well i think called the TZR125RR just a bit more round which 'Kiddie' put up.

They're are really hard to get hold of. I bought mine and 2 a couple of mates bought 1 each a couple of years later and then they had a choice of black, red or yellow, and only had 1 of each colour thats from the only official dealer back in 02

Im not sure of the 0-60 but ive been told it will do your average boy racer car to 70 but thats about it.
I would expect it to go for between £600 and £800, buy it and when youy get bored in a couple months ill have it off ya lol

Thats a fair point and i have thought about VFR 400's but that means i have to do my full bike test i was planning on running a 125 on a CBT for a while.

Lozi said he'd do the full bike thing so having a 125 is pointless.
I'd make a bet with ANYONE that should they do the test and get a bike then regret it that i'd pay out on the bet. It's that much of a no brainer.
Having a 125 when you could get something bigger is like wanting an RS, being able to afford an RS 500 and choosing to buy a fiesta RS1800

If you do the week long one (direct access maybe?) I think it's about £700 (that's about what my mate paid anyway)

mate, a c.b.t last for 2 years, also if you pass your car test while still holding a valid c.b.t you can ride a 50 with no L plates, and a 125 with L plates, if you don;t have a car lience you have to have : plates on a 125, not sure about if you pass your car test then take a c.b.t lol
