cossie is eating rear tires
is there any thing that can be done to stop my 2wd saff cosworth from eating tires ? the car has been lowered and is eating away at the inside edge its on 17's thanks for help in advance
oh yer and its not been driven hard as im still running it in so it not my driving eating tyres

They basically de-camber the rear hubs so the tyre sits flatter to the ground.

......... because the trailing arm doesn't move in a completely vertical motion.
If you watch the trailing arm as you lower the vehicle, it has an arc to it (very slight) that toes out the rear wheels.
It wont change static camber by much (if at all), but under load (launch situation etc) the added toe angle helps to keep the tyre that much more square to the road surface.

appreciate that Rich, but it's the arm location that causes that effect, not the angle of the hub.. on most lowered cossies the static camber is already too much even before the suspension compresses to make it worse. adding toe at the hub won't stop the camber increasing as the arm moves up ?

What I'm saying is that the arc can be slightly altered to allow a little less camber as the arm rises.
I used to have a good Paint style pic to illustrate........... I'm even making hand gestures to try and illustrate in between typing sentences

i'll get in contact with Mike R as these seem a quick fix which will allow me to save a bit of money for something more permanant
it was lowered when i got it the thought of putting it back onto standard springs did cross my mind

i had a bit of a look under the car today and there seems to be a bit of excissive movment in the rear beam think it needs new bushes too
has any one got a contact for mike r so i can get my self some of these de camber shims ?
