There are a few rear beam conversions around. Speak to someone like Mike R, who knows a bit about them!

bring the camber of the car out so you have less negative camber, which kills tyres

That makes about as much sense as a chocolate teapot

They basically de-camber the rear hubs so the tyre sits flatter to the ground.

They adjust the camber by toeing the rear wheels in slightly.

I had them on mine - best Ł10 I ever spent on the car!

......... because the trailing arm doesn't move in a completely vertical motion.

If you watch the trailing arm as you lower the vehicle, it has an arc to it (very slight) that toes out the rear wheels.

It wont change static camber by much (if at all), but under load (launch situation etc) the added toe angle helps to keep the tyre that much more square to the road surface.

appreciate that Rich, but it's the arm location that causes that effect, not the angle of the hub.. on most lowered cossies the static camber is already too much even before the suspension compresses to make it worse. adding toe at the hub won't stop the camber increasing as the arm moves up ?

Rich,

What I'm saying is that the arc can be slightly altered to allow a little less camber as the arm rises.

I used to have a good Paint style pic to illustrate........... I'm even making hand gestures to try and illustrate in between typing sentences

Why not get a six degree rear beam , transforms the car and improves tyre wear..
