Default Tuners and opinions

Looking into building and mapping a new project engine. The spec is to be decided. I have got a Pectel T6 ECU and looking to achieve around 600bhp.
I have read quite a few posts on this forum looking for 'the best' tuner for the job. Here is a shortlist and most importantly I would like to know who would be the best to map the Pectel setup

Ahmed Bayjoo - Grove Garage
Mark Shead - MADevelopments
Julian Godfrey - Julian Godfrey Engineering
Martin Reyland - Reyland Motorsport
Harvey Gibbs - Supreme Car Servises

traveling would not be an issue

I don't think Mark Shead works with pectel and Martin Hadland of Reyland motorsport does brake kits now not engines.

I choose not to map Pectel and now it is not supported by Pectel/cosworth,
If the OP insists it has to be on it then Either JG or Ahmed is your option.

Starting with what ecu you have is putting the cart before the horse somewhat and something I've probably been guilty of.

Work out why you want 600bhp and what you want to do with it and budget first. There are 600bhp engines and 600bhp engines!!

I think word of mouth is the best way to choose. People who have had similar work done and been very pleased will recommend the tuner to you.

The Pectel was picked up at a good price. With the lack of tuners who are willing/able to map it, this would perhaps explain why.
Is it really that bad or just lack of back up?
What comparable alternatives would people suggest?
Anyone heard of MaxxECU? Any good results on a ford? This costs around Ł1000

If you go aftermarket don't go on price go on who can map it. You need to pick a tuner and talk to them

Find a Tuner you are happy with is essential & then take his advice. 20 years ago I was hunting for a Tuner.
Went to a well known one back in the day, immaculate workshop, comfortable seats to discuss my aims even a view window to see the work being carried out. They were well advertised but didn't impress me one bit. Next port of call was a single garage that looked like a bomb site within minutes he was my Tuner such was my first impression. 20 years later nothing happens to my car unless that Tuner agrees. You need to find the same & it may not be the ones that are advertised everywhere. Best of luck finding someone you can trust.
