I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Jan 1996 - in my instructors mk2 fiesta diesel ( back before diesels were actually any good!)
I had my own mk2 fiesta which I purchased ready before I passed, mine was the stonking 1.4s which I did up (badly) to look like an XR2..

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
My mk2 escort in 1985.
This mark2 escort did me proud for the first 6 months but I hated the thing:
2' door in horrible custard off yellow beige
1100cc popular base model
12 inch wheels
Drum brakes
Plastic seats
Plastic floor not even a carpet!
4 speed
I drove it every where flat out but as it only had 45 bhp I survived unscathed!

I wanted to sit my test in my own car but they wouldn't let me. I had a Toyota celica . I had to use their non descript standard learner motor, I cant remember what it was.

1987 in my instructers Bright Red MK3 Escort. Can't remember the exact model or year though.
I just remember he has a lot of trouble with that new shell fuel causing pinking, so he was forever adjusting the distributer.

VW Polo Estate August 1987. Had to do a real emergency stop on the test too when some tool cut across in front of my, which actually probably helped me pass though to be honest.
My driving instructor was a great woman, and made the lessons really funny and enjoyable too, and lots of people I knew went with her driving school. Sadly she's long since gone. (

may 82 3lt mk2 capri lived on a farm so used to drive up and down the private roads.
brought the car way before i was of age to take test to get used to it.
Also in them days i could use my 1 yrs ncb from a moped transferd over to a car and got extra 10% for being a farm worker.

September 1996. Failed at my first attempt in my instructors Corsa. Got a re-test exactly a week later due to a cancellation and passed in my own Mk3 Escort 1.3 (C356 EYB), as my instructor was not available on that day!
