Yeah it's a rip off, the same car can be taxed twice in 1 month when its sold, so they make extra money from us

Its just a hidden way for them to rip the motorists off again. There is an official petition to get the new tax to run from the exact day of purchase/sale now there is no tax disc this should be a more fair way of dealing with things

https://submissions.epetitions.direc...etitions/70266

Plenty have already signed it but not sure if it will make any difference

No road side stops where I live, seen 2 in the last 10 years and only pulling vans etc, I'm a law abiding motorist on the most part but I won't be ripped off, you take your chances.
We all commit offences everyday, speeding for one, police are no different and I'm sure off duty they all tax their cars towards the end of the month with a few days left.

The thing that pisses me off is that you have to tax it in your name when purchased.

But they say the V5 isn't proof of ownership just who's responsible for the car.

Or am I wrong in that statement?

So glad I don't feel that everyone is ripping me off or targeting me like you guys seem to do .

Think you guys need a real dose of hardship to get you back to reality.
Your on a car site talking about all the mods you are or want to do to an old Ford & yet the whole world is against you & pinching your money .
Get your priorities right if you are hard up for a few bob sell your cars & get your life in order. Wingeing Nancy's the lot of you .

Police also have a number of permanent and temporary ANPR cameras that are attached to lighting columns. Hertfordshire is tied up tighter than a nuns snatch.

We have had two APNR equipped vans driving around our side streets. Look almost like those Google Map cars. Looking for cars on the street, uninsured and/or untaxed and not SORN.

Surely tax is on the car, irrelevant of owner but insurance is what counts? Even the name to whom the car is registered is not important as long as the car is taxed & driver is correctly covered.

And, before slagging off the UK government (regardless of flavour and your own affiliations) and saying you will go elsewhere, have a check on what the governments are like in those other countries. Pretty certain I wouldn't want to emigrate to some 3rd world sh!thole just because of lax car taxation rules.

Moaning about the government ripping drivers off in one breath and then declaring how best to wriggle out of paying taxes in the next does seem hypercritical to me.
