Worst 'fast' Ford?
Just wondered what everyone's least favourite 'fast' Ford is?
For me I've always been a fan of the older xr2's and 3's. The RS models are always well thought of too, especially the Cosworths. The only one I can think of is the Escort GTi. To me it doesn't look great, has very little following and isn't very fast. I own a Focus ST170, which certainly isn't the fastest car I've owned but looks good and handles well (so I'm not going to vote for that .

I think the XR4 is almost retro cool now, I also think some of the mk3 fiestas have a certain charm. I remember being driven to school in an old Granada Scorpio (C reg), probably a crap car but I thought it was great at the time!

I had an st170 and it was comfortable and a good car the only thing sporty about it was the fuel consumption lol found it very boring

Probably not the worst 'fast' Ford though, although I can definitely accept it may have been the worst you have owned. Wish I could afford a Cossie like the one in your sig.

mk6 escort Mexico......... WTF lol
ST170`s are quick cars, handle well and when Recaro`d up, are a joy to drive very quickly!
a lot of work and thinking went into developing the ST170, even more than the mk1 RS IMO

im a huge cosworth fan and iv owned a 2wd saph and have 2 st170s now and a 170 although slower in a straight line than a cosworth will spank the pants off them in the corners.

Fiesta RS1800 is probably the one I find most annoying as it's just a 16v XR2i that never made the claimed 130bhp.
It's not bad, it's just not good enough

Slightly OT..
I worked on a K reg Granada Scorpio last week, used to think those cars were massive back in the day, but I sat in it and thought it felt quite small compared to modern stuff.

And put it this way, its pretty much on par with a mk6 fiesta st - 150bhp, circa 1125kgs!! (Fiesta st is circa 1130kgs). Never stopped them being branded as shite!!! They where quite overrated in my opinion!!

As soon as I seen this post I thought straight away that the mk5 and 6 RS2000 would be mentioned lol.
People slate the ST170 and say they arnt quick. Ive drove my mates and I would defo say its a quick car.
I think the Probe and the cougar were a bit of a let down tbh.

LOL at all the mk5 and 6 rs2000 haters, whats so special about an rs1600i?
And id like to see an rs turbo driven as hard as an rs2k, would soon go bang.
And for anyone saying all mk5 or 6 look the same, well so do mk1 and 2 escorts to idiots who dont pay attention to detail x

I liked my mk5 rs2000,great handling, comfortable, quick enough only thing I didn't like is it was a smiley front and looked a bit lame.
Worst supposedly fast fords would be capris,cougars,probes,mk3 xr2i's due to being slow,xr4i's and the rs1600i,which I own and can say they are pants.

I was hinting at the fact a mk2 rs2000 was "just a 2.0L with Recaros". Now you say they are great handling? They may be fwd (and 4x4 in cases) but a mk5 and mk6 rs2000 are both great handling cars!! So they are still (in my opinion) specced in-line with a mk2 rs2000.
Dry your eyes ffs!! Was a bitta banter
