Default Hart / AS inlet support

Does the standard Ford support fit the base of this inlet - bracket to engine mount?

Good question, i bet 78.9852% of cossies have had this thrown away after it caused the knuckle dragging DIY spanner monkeys too much pain and grunts to throw it in the correct direction and put the nuts back in the correct order

I remember fletch posting a picture of his engine with the bottom lugs of the head where the manifold bolts on ripped off from not having the support fitted.

Right so it doesn't fit, strange that they even added a bracket that is no use with the standard bracket - they should have made it bigger

Right the only reason i want to fit one is to support the heavy plenum as many have uncovered the threads in the casting to be a bit dodgy

Its only a bolt on part..............trouble is you have to unbolt everything else around it to fit

I've Pm'd him asking him if he still has the pic I'll post them when he gets back to me.

IMO the bracket does make a difference.

its the same manifold so will have the same problems with fitment because other than the cast metal they use its just a copy of the hart one!

Christ!!!!! Fletch i was more worried about the bolts being ripped out of the plenum but that is something i've never seen before - that confirms i will be fabbing a bracket up to fit this, maybe something that Auto Specialists may look at and sell with there kit

Some cars do have issues with the ABS block and the nearest pipe - you will have to go for a banjo fitting on the block - simple to do really just a hassle when you think your buying a bolt on part. But it was an issue when the Hart inlet was being fitted (the original to the AS inlet)

Happened to Pig too when he had his YB'd yellow RS2K!!!!!!

Why not, instead of having a bracket underneath which we all know is a PITA Hang or support the plenum fom above from the rocker cover bolts just as the turbo is on the other side. I know nothing is 'off the shelf' for this and it might make the bufty boys cry but so would snapping ya inlet fanymold.

Just a thought and I am seriously considering it

100% I would fit a support/resonation damping bracket using a big heavy Hart Inlet.

You probably get away with it on a standard inlet.

Had exactly the same happen to mine as the pics above. As Tony said its not ripped off its the vibration that causes the crack and head sections to break away.

Here's the thread from when I fitted my Hart inlet to my 3 Door covers all the problems you might come up against.
