Default AeroCatch backing plates?

Anyone know if these can be purchased? as I have a fibreglass bonnet and the standard nut and skrew wont be strong enough imo.

Would of thought this wuld be a reapeted issue and they'd sell them some where but searched on net and can't find any, making them would be a dull boring job to do.

Shit myself cutting the hole to fit

Bastard to do the inner skin also.

I've got them on my fibreglass bonnet (with no bonnet catch) and they've been fine for over two years now. Mine have only seen 123mph max though. So they must be strong enough.

Yer ive had loads of people tell me there fine just bolted to the single skin but still looking doesnt feel right lol

Got to cut bigger hole in inner skin to get nuts in any way so might as well put backing plate in whilst at it.

these backing plates are a waste of money ! if you think about it if it fails its down to a real bad fit as it will have to pull against itself the manage to either pull or snap 6 bolts then pull itself through the bonnet ! tbh i think being a ford theres more chance that the slam panel is rusty and will pull itself of with the bonnet

Even if all 6 bolts fail there's the big pin in the centre of the catch attatched to the slam panel. The only way it's going to fail imo is if the whole thing pulls through the bonnet and even on my single skin fibre glass bonnet it hasn't done that yet.
The 6 bolts are just to hold it in place in the bonnet and should see no load.

Alright gents, I get your point.

It's not so much a worry of them failing, it's when they are in process of being opened/shut... locked/unlocked the flex on the outer skin isn't a nice feeling.

The backing plate imo would stop this flex. Make sense?

Ordered from tweaks yesterday and here today. They are great as well, 1.5mm alloy plate with fixed nuts on the back and they also supply new screws too! good service.

Still no reply from Rainbird on the price difference
