Need help picking a new dog.
For those of you who frequent the Muppet room you will know we have lost our Rottie Zac to a mysteriouse illness, well the house feels empty and we need a "free spirit" to be let loose again
Where Zac would drool everywhere,be under our feet, wake us up in bed by jumping on to it (omfg that hurt sometimes, he did weigh 60kg) bound everywhere almost knocking us over as we walked in the house after 2 minutes being out, we miss it all.
Now please understand, we would/could never replace our Zac, but we feel we need another character in the house,so please help me choose.

My English Bull Terrier, he has alot more muscle already in the 3 weeks or so we have had him.
He's as brilliant as our old English Bull, real good fun, absolutely nuts racing around the house, manages to stand exactly where I am just about to put my feet and he is a star with other dogs big and small.
Obviously to you my post is useless as you haven't even mentioned English Bull's, but if your looking for loyalty I haven't experienced a better breed, they suit my temperament anyways.
Sorry to hear about your loss also mate.

AWWWW!! I saw it!
Steve - dependant on what kind of mastiff you go for, i would definitely shoose one of those over a shar pei. Shar peis look lovely when pups, but soon loose their wrinkles, and can develop very bad health issues, especially skin related!
French Mastiff (Dogue de Bordeaux)
I know you have seen me and smelly a million times, but the dogue really is a very loyal breed! Not as energetic as a bull mastiff ( but this can be a good thing sometimes!!) Ellie was very obedient, never walked on a lead, and was FANTASTIC with kids. She still had the fun side her thought, bounding about all over the place! BUT the do slobber!

Bullmastiff
Not quite as wide set as the french mastiff, but grow slightly taller! Very very similar traits to the french, but have a considerable amount more energy and dont dribble so much!!!

English Mastiff
These are the biggest of the mastiff breeds, very bloody clumsy, but that is all part of their personality. Again, they have a very similar personality to the above, but can be a little more stubborn!

Good luck honey which ever you go for!

and steve yea mastiff all the way the last thing you will want is any health problems,

Dovboy - she was a rescue dog from battersea. Although they didnt let me keep her papers, they showed them to be before she was released, as the people who gave her up gave her and 3 others up at the same time! All with pedigree papers! Shame they beat the shit out of all of em for the majority of their lives though!
She was quite fat... so the broadness can be deceiving!

Oh bless ya steve... im so pleased youre getting another dog though, i havent had another dog since smelly died ( my circumstances just dont allow me too! it wouldnt be fair on the dog! ) and i cant wait until i can get another! a home just isnt a home to me without a dog!!

Steve, if you do ever go for a mastiff, and would maybe conider a rescue dog, this site is fantastic
http://z11.invisionfree.com/molosserbreedspart2/
they will be able to give you all the advice and help you could ever need too!
They have neopolitan mastiffs, presa canaros (sp), dogues, bullies, basically all molosser breeds on here that need new homes!

Cheers Maria, going to take a look now.
Youll have to register... and be warned, it will break your heart looking at some of em that need new homes!
I havent registered on this new board, purely cos i know id want to bring em all home.
but the owner, Tracie, shows at crifts and has rescued bullmastiffs herself, and shes a top top lady!
