French toll roads
OK, on Friday I've got 3+ hours on these things on the way to Le Mans and have a couple of questions.........
Does anyone know if they accept credit cards or cash or both?
Do they have means of working out speed and buggering you?
Cheers

both - credit card only lanes often have shorter q's and i always use a card for the big ones incase the billing get's lost somehow
don't know about the speed, but from what i've seen on t'internet, the french will bugger anything i have never fallen foul of any speed measurement

The police sit the junction before the main tolls and then nab you for speeding at the toll itself.
They then use the time on the cars to see how much you've been speeding!

when i've travelled, it hasn't been to a big event like le mans. i guess the gendarmes will be looking out for jean le foreigner to make a few euro's out of, knowing how most visitors treat french autoroutes

i have used a maestro card at a toll booth before, but that's not to say that all will and accept your card. might be better to have cash as a back up. and of course, you are charged a fee or at least a conversion cost on each card transaction, so it can often be cheaper to only take one charge when getting out a decent wad

NEVER had a problem on my many many many trips to Paris. In fact never even SEEN a Police car on that road...
Its AMAZING
and they do NOT work out average speed between barriers and do you no mate.
However I think that the other toll roads to Lemans are alot more policed and they will be out in force I suspect so be careful!
P.S New M5's show 168mph on the speedo before the limiter stops play.... and that feels SOOOOOOOOO SLOW on the A16.... Its sounds silly... but it just isn't quick enough The roads are open, empty, soooo smooth and soooo safe compared with ours!
The M5 did ok with its average speed though including a fuel stop
Pretty much did this the whole way!

I overtook a Gendarme on the A16 once a few years back. Was doing 130+ I guess, looking out for the jam sandwich type cop cars, blitzed past an all blue car.
Girl I was with pointed out it was a copper, spent the rest of the journey bricking it!
