Theres a cabrio down the local scrappy, had a mooch round it today to pikie some lil bits off it, hoods in a fair condition (my idea of fair is most peoples idea of mint tho)

a place in southend does the outer for about Ł300 fitted i think, they may even be cheaper than that!!!!

its prob made out of bin liner a 'propper' roof is really expensive! i have a brand new roof allready fitted onto a frame, if you want it.. it wont be cheap though

i got an inner and outer for the wife's golf for Ł450 fitted
and a mohair roof on her escort for Ł390+fitting

and they are better than the crap roofs ford supplied as new , however if you want a pro(p?)per roof go to fords and get one that splits and leaks!!!!

oh yeah hoods galore give you a 1yr leak free warrenty

An Escort hood does not cost you much mate, trust me as I have had plenty of experience with this. The Mk3 & Mk4 escort hood is one of the cheapest cabriolet roofs on the market.

You can only buy the outer skin from after-market traders now and it shouldn't cost you any more than Ł150 in any colour, they will send you the skin, the chicken wire and fitting instructions.

I only know of local people to Milton Keynes who supply and fit, but if you look in your local Yellow Pages under 'Car Trimmers' you're bound to find someone round your way that does it.

The alternative is to source a complete roof still on the metal frame with inner and outer skin complete. This is the easier way to do it, but will need at least 2 of you to lift the old one off and put the new one on as they are very heavy........ and dont loose any of the screws cos there is tonnes of them.

I got a very good cond roof on a frame complete with both skins for Ł200 about 4 years ago and that was the going rate. Granted I think it came from a stolen car, which wasn't good but I dont know who's car it was or anything.

Dont let anyone rip you off with the roof, people will tell you they are hard to get hold of which is bull, you just got to look in the right places and the right time.
