Default Heater problem - 1.8D Fiesta.

This question may well turn out to be academic, as the vehicle in question, has since been in an accident, and the dagger of scrapping lays above it, according to the insurance company. The car was hit while stationery - nobody hurt - and I haven't since the car, yet.

My step-daughter's Fiesta 1.8 Diesel.

The heater works fine on short journeys, and warms up on a long journey, but will sudden stop working about half the journey to us, in Bristol. Any ideas, apart from a reverse flush?

Thanks.

Yep, it is a puzzler.
Well the temperature gauge shows mid range, as normal, and I haven't yet been able to test the thermostat - although I wouldn't have thought this was an issue. I thought that there might have been air, leaving the temperature sensor high and dry, but surely this would lead to overheating, and have little impact on the cabin temperature and matrix.

The vehicle has just had a recon engine, and I like your kind of suggestion of air, in the system around the heater matrix. I'll check that out when I can. IIRC, when recharging the cooling system, they are a bugger to do properly, because of the positioning of the pipework around the heater matrix itself, and the top end (or am I thinking of Renault 5 Turbos?)

Thanks for your help!

Thanks!
