Focus ST Bluefin problem
Right, here it goes.
A friend of mine has a Focus ST and he tried to Bluefin it tonight and now the bugger won't start anymore.
When the Bluefin tried to download the original software of the car, it got an error message and that's it. Now the car won't start.
It lights everything up as usefull but it refuses to start.
He also tried uploading and downloading the Bluefin again to no avail.
Options please as help is needed ASAP as he needs the car tomorrow morning.

unless you are able to download the cars original map from the bluefin, youre fucked, you will need to contact the supplier and get them to sort it out
theres a guy on here from scc performance, i think, (he has posted in this ST forum) try PMing him as he is a superchips supplier
*edit* here you go

Bollox, oh well, I'll tell the bad news to my friend then.
Of to be towed to Ford in the morning.
Let's hope that they don't cause any grieve because of this and make him pay for the reflash. Also let's hope that they don't do anything with his warranty then.
Will he still be able to use this Bluefin set or does he need to get another one from Superchips?

Was talking to my dealer 2 weeks ago and he was telling us about a Focus ST that came in 2 weeks after he sold it.The owner siad the car was running like a bag of nails. The dealer hooked it up to the computer and saw that someone had been messing with the ECU settings. The owner denied this at 1st,the dealer told him he was lieing and that he was charging €1,000 to get it fixed. The owner still insisited nothing was tampered with,so the dealer told him to get the car off the forecourt and his warranty was invalid. The owner cooled down, paid the €1,000 and the dealer remapped the correct settings back into the ECU.Regards Micky

If there are ECU updates they will be flashed onto the ecu no problem....But if you took your car into the dealer with a blank ECU or an ECU fault that is detailed to people messing with it they will kknow what you have been upto

That is a Quality Enharncment (read recall).
And yes its usually done as part of a service.... as the car is already in the dealership.
It is not a service item however.

You tune a car - you end your warranty. Expecting anything else is unreasonable

if there is an ecu update its usally dont as part of the service I know many FRS peeps who have been upgraded to the AF map only to cause them problems as there cars run better on AE
considering the Ford diag machine will have the current disk loaded with the map on and the flash doesnt exactly take long 10 mins on a FRS kin fooking rip off

well, bluefins crapping out during an install isnt usually an issue, its a tried and tested method, but like anything transmitting data, if you interrupt it, it can have adverse effects.
I wouldnt let this put you off having an ECU upgrade, especially as superchips have thier own warranty to cover things outside of the manufacturers remit.
speak to superchips, get thier advice before taking it anywhere near a Ford dealer, most numpties using thier diag equipment will openly admit they dont have a clue how to use it properly.
superchips may be able to upload a standard map from thier database to get the car back to standard, then either offer you a refund, or do the upgrade on site for you, never know, this might all be covered under thier warranty.
like I said, speak to superchips BEFORE Ford

If it's the Bluefin thats at fault and caused the ECU mapping to go bye bye. Wouldn't Superchips be liable for the bill under the warranty of the bluefin? Or at least try and get some of the cost back. I dunno bout these things I ain't a legal beagle, just a postie

My m8 already spoke with Superchips and there is nothing they can do about it, so they say.
They advise to have the ECU reflashed by Ford and then try it again with the Bluefin AFTER they have overviewed it.
It has now left Belgium en route to Superchips-UK.
They then either repair or replace the Bluefin but I wounder indeed if my m8 is left with a bill from Ford.

should be part of superchips warranty IMO. As someone stated above superchips must have a standard ford map on there computers. Could it be anything to do with the car being not in the UK?

If he has to pay this after the Bluefin fooked the ECU , then that's v bad customer service on superchips part.
I take it that bluefinnig is easy enough: plug it in & press a button? Just checking that superchips aren't goingot say it was 'operator error' and nothing to do with their software

they wont pay for damage , companys like then never do.... like when cosworth sold me a dodgy oil pump, they admitted it was faulty to much pressure , caused loads of agro, and all they would do is give me a new pump and say tough shit about the rest..... and then they wonder why i got annoyed ffs

Sorry, have been offline for quit a long time.
Everything is fixed now.
The Bluefin had taken all originals settings from the ECU and that's why it crashed.
Ford put in an entirely new ECU as that was faulty aswell and they did it free of charge.
And Superchips repaired the Bluefin free of charge and it works perfectly now.
