Thought I'd start my own thread on the modifications I've been doing and got planned for my 4i,
Feel free to comment or give any advise etc

As she looks now...

She was treated to full service to start and get some decent sounds in her to start.
1st thing was loose the black dials!


Sexy white dials

I hate orange flashers so tint film was purchased






Polly bushed front end, waiting to install the rear and Strutt tops on the front to complete full polly bush all round to keep it all tight as a drum, feels like a gokart as it is



Rear seat belts reinstalled due to previous owner removing half of them for some reason



Then found set of cheap RS7's soft lines to treat her to,


Came across a rear 2000e leather seat for a steal at £20 so changed over the cloth one for bit of style with the thought of getting some Recaro's for the front instead of the armchairs the original 4i's have,

Bit of a modification to get the bolsters to fit

Zip ties doing a good job lol
Not a bad job eh! Lol
Rear seats sorted!

Found some white alloys I preferred the look of that only needed a little spruce up so off I went-a-sprucing..








2 at a time!!








Wasn't happy with 1st trip out with me new clean wheels to Brighton and they got covered in crap in the bad weather on way down
But still looking REEM!

Found some old Recaros that needed a refurb cheap and a one eyed man who brings things back to life for the front!

The rear has been lowered a bit and is on spax adjustables
But for my liking could be a bit lower and front end could do with a good 40mm drop and some aftermarket shocks as well as uprated brakes but will do this job all together soon as I've worked out what shocks and discs and the desired calipers that I need and if I need to change hubs for them to fit? So any advise on this would be very appreciated

The spax are adjustable but is that just for the ride quality or will these also adjust the ride height??


So that's my story so far..
On my to do list is as I said shocks, lowering, discs and calipers , full stainless exhaust for a bit of a nicer sound ( not deep meaty one but more of the racing crackle if that's the word?)
Engine and bay degrease and clean up, and then maybe a few tweaks for the old cologne to keep her running tip top,
And hopefully get her out this summer for few meets or shows??

So my mods I had on the go have all got to go on hold for a while!
All because someone agreed to get married!!!
10 weeks till dooms day.....
I apologise to my 4i for making her wait for her brake, suspension and dash upgrade, ( mk1 sierra dash off eBay for 99p ....)
Bit of shot blasting and powder coating needed for the shocks, springs and calipers
And a tidy bit of flocking for the dash..
But I have managed to bid on a lil something special on eBay
Will keep the updates coming!!

Well after loosing an original janspeed turbo full kit off eBay in the last second for 26p
I've found something a little special but can't get till after the wedding
I've got lil stack of mods now on hold til I see what's what!
New front shocks ( might need a refurb) bigger front brakes 300mm with mondeo callipers
Would have liked these done ready for ford fair but suppose I just have to put up with high front end and crap brakes for bit longer!
The thought of what's coming for the old girl soon will keep me smiling though!!!

Looks well matey.I would put a cossie front bumper on cause I dont think the XR4i bumpers look right.

I don't like 4i's with cossie bumpers really,
So I managed to find an original mk1 front spoiler/splitter for her,
Just need to mod it a bit fit it then get both sprayed as my bumper getting bit tatty
Here's it just propped up roughly where I want it.



Swaped front and rear ford badges too as mine looking rough and like the colour coded style.

Plates! What plates????
So far nothing's been said, had the fuzz behind me few times so think I'm getting away with them,
Got originals in boot will just say there show plates and forgot to change them!

Yeah cars before certain age!
Seen a few on 4i's from abroad and like the look of them,
Was quite expensive in the end but should look nice once sprayed and fitted right!

Just a matter of time till you get pulled for the plates i'm afraid mate..

Has some pressed ones on my 84' A Escort and went about 4 months fine, then £60 fine, 'forgot to change them' didn't really wash either unfortunately..

Looks good though!

So after the old girl failing her health check this year I've decided to give her some time out!
She's getting SORN today so I can get my arse in gear for my upgrades and wish lists done a swell as the few little problems she's got,
When she's back on the road it'll look like she's been Towie'd but in a good way....

Been looking for ages for one, all over the place,
It's a mk1 sierra RS spoiler,
Seen few on fouriegn 4i's but hard to find over here!
Il see if there's a part no on it if you like?

Just a few lil mods been trying to do with my little car time I've managed to squeeze in since Xmas
Alloy pedals off mrs for Xmas,




Time I've started bumper modification with lil help from a friend,

trimming spoiler up a little,

Also few changes to dash instruments found a mk1 clock/timer/alarm I liked better than the original and something to swap the useless tape holder with,
Just need to get my arse into saving some cash and time for cracking on with lil jobs that need doing to her

Little update,
Came into possession of this today...




Got a bit of the rat look about her after 4yrs hiding in a garage high up in the Welsh valleys lol

But it's hiding a very special heart under them ruffian looks.....



Had quick look over her after a long four and half hour drive back in hired recovery truck

Not sure on the chances to get a look tomorrow being Mother's Day....
But will try,
Not made mind up on what to do with grey one after I've completed plans for white one....big thank you to Leigh a very very patient guy and very helpful

Glad it's gone to a good home mate, I'm gutted now it's gone! But looking forward to your progress. It's a quick old thing, it was 228hp when I had it on the dyno with 10psi, it was quicker than my standard Cossie easily.
