Default Chevrolet V8 into a Sierra

Hi chaps,
As above, my sapphire has been wanting more power for quite a while now, and I'm now in the position to do something a bit crazy. A friend has a Small block chevrolet V8 spare that would be perfect.

Does anybody know of any sierras that have had one put in, as I need some advice regarding gearbox choice. I'd ideally like to use a Ford one, so that I don't have to mess about with custom props etc. Do 2wd Cosworth T5s have changeable bellhousings, or are there any other boxes I should be looking at?

Edited to say: it needs to be a manual.

Thanks
George

Small block Chevy is a very heavy engine.

Why not keep it all Ford?

302/5.0 bolts up to a Cossie T5 with a bellhousing from Real Steel and is lighter.

If you really want a Chevy, save up for a LS as they are all aluminium and make plenty of power.

Not bothered about keeping pure ford.
We're only considering the chevvy as a mate has one that he would let go for cheap.
Is the 302 a fairly good engine all round? I'll have a look at your build thread when I get home, it would be very useful being in touch with someone who has already made one!
Cheers

The 302 is a decent enough engine and does not weigh too much, lots of tuning parts available.

Engine weights in the following link, looks like the Chevy is 575lbs and the Ford around 450lbs - ali heads will save lots of weight on these figures.

They did quite well in the South Africa touring car championship
