Look first at the gasket kits that you want . I think I had new rings and bearings which was around £350 inc vat from Burtons. I changed the cam followers for new and the water pump inc thermostat.
Luckily the crank only needed polishing and my pistons were very good but had to change the head which was £500 to me and had a mild port by my engineer who also assembled the whole engine.
Depending on who is doing it, what it needs and any engineering work i.e block bored to fit new pistons etc the cost can vary quite a bit. With a few other things I needed such as new water hose kit and a very rare sump i managed to pay an estimated £1500-£2k. As said it can vary depending on lots of things.
Someone may have a completely different opinion tbh.

Why are you rebuilding?

Mike

My 3 door was noisy when cold and did use some oil but ran fine, however when stripped for freshen up and fitting later pistons with offset gudgeon pins the bores where worn by 0.008" the later pistons are much better think my rebuild cost about 2k including head rebuild with new guides and reground valves and seats and I fitted a new genuine oil pump and wrc head gasket as I had head and block lightly skimmed to ensure good seal. Runs quiet now and uses no oil between changes.

Mine came to £720 and was done by an engine builder

Nothing wrong with mine, just needed a freshen up as slightly weaping on the seals, 40,520 miles. Blue smoke on over run which I put down to turbo seals, so I had this done to be sure and new TT turbo.

New genuine ford oil pump
Mahle piston rings
New shells
Mahle motorsport bearings
Head mildly ported
New valve guides
Re honed
light skim
New seals
New valve stem oil seals
