Love these ones.
Had a 1:18 model which got damaged badly in a removal box. Still, took the running gear and put it in another model lol.

I appreciate that....the point I'm trying to make is if it wasn't built as an RS500 from the factory and converted to a race car (bearing in mind they only had to make 500 ROAD cars) how can it be classified as a genuine RS500 ?

RS500 spec maybe, but it can't be a genuine RS500.

You are opening a can of worms there that most cant and wont understand

you are actually correct , None of the race cars are actuall rs500"s as they were all road cars that were built to homologate the race cars

All the race cars were infact 3 doors and once the 500 rs500 road cars were built and the homologation completed then all the race cars were updated to " rs500 spec "

Saying that , all the race cars are called rs500"s and nobody realy cares about it and its accepted

nice one and just to let you know like Paul said

all these sierras that raced with the rs500 Stuff on were/ are all build up from bare shells

but to do this Ford had to build 500 road going specials for homoligation

same as the /Mercedes Evo I Evo II /Bmw M3 /evo 1/evo II

so really no they are not Rs500's but they are classed as Grp A Rs500's if that make sense

the closest thing you are going to get to genuine Rs500 out of all of these that raced are the Eggenburger Cars as they were proper "works cars" supported By Ford

Marco

The only " official " works cars were the eggenberger Texaco cars , but , Ford did support Andy Rouse , buy this was kept quiet

Andy could get hold of parts that others couldnt get and the parts everyone could get Andy got first
