crank seal renewal

how do you get the crank seal into the housing(one which forms part of the sump)do you need a special tool or can you bang it in with a rubber mallet/hammer

gently tap it in with a socket the same size, do it slowly and evenly taking care not to knock it in further than the one you have took out

cut the old one in half and uce that, gently tap it with a hammer

the old one was well knackered think was the original.had to cut it out with a stanley knife.came out in little pirces of hard crap.
